Hello players of online wizard game.

I wish to present this hypothetical situation to you for the purpose of insightful discussion.

If you had only one account, with one character what would your template be?

    Go!

I'd have no choice but to go with either the lame, utility template of:

Magery - Evaluating Intelligence - Meditation - Resisting Spells - Musicianship - Provocation

or Eval Tamer as mentioned above. The only reason I might prefer the former is that I enjoy playing a bard more than I enjoy playing a tamer.

Scribe Stun Mage and Nox Mage (with Alchemy) also have some potential as they're both crafters and PvPers, although it's pretty agreed that Nox Mages don't really fly around here.

Blacksmith, mining, tailoring, carpentry, alchemy, tinkering.

Because the demand would be through the roof as everyone wants to be an adventurer

Honestly back in 1998 usually 1 character on 1 account is what everyone concentrated on due to the extensive amount of time training. I made quit a bit of money with a 3x gm of the above template

You would be very wealthy for sure.

And you're very true about back in the day, I had my main and then just a fisherman for a good year before branching out. Around the same time everyone figured out 8x8 hah

All those dungeon chests would be yours prime for the plucking too with the lockpicking. Excellent choices.

    100.0 Healing (100.0 real)
    100.0 Anatomy (100.0 real)
    100.0 Swordmanship (100.0 real)
    90.0 Resisting Spells (89.3 real)
    85.0 Lumberjacking (81.8 real)
    81.3 Tactics (81.3 real)
    80.0 Poisoning (77.6 real)
    72.0 Magery (70.0 real)

    90 str/90 dex/45 int

PvM here. This is the build I've been working on. Right now, I'm at the skill cap. I'm draining Musicianship/Provo as others power up, which is working well.

I think I'll tinker with axes for a while to see how I like them, and then maybe switch through different martial skills 'til I find what feels right.

72 is enough Magery to cast what I need to cast (7th circle scrolls) and enough to gain entry to Wind. Investing ~80 points in Tactics lets me get by on +20 weapons (as well as +15, really). With 80 Poisoning, I'm pretty much guaranteed on applying regular poison, as well as something like an 80%+ chance to apply greater poison (if not higher; did limited testing). 85 Lumberjacking gets me the damage bonus, as well as being 5 points ahead of the minimum for harvesting oak (25% past minimum should be substantial, but I haven't run numbers). 90 resist is pretty solid, too, with a 100 Magery/100 Eval doing 102% damage on me while maintaining a 10% lower chance to resist outright (which I'm okay with -- 1 out of 10 spells isn't that bad imo).

The utility from Poisoning has been life-saving, even using meager lesser poisons.
The build has been fun and effective so far! As I've been building this character, it has been hard to raise Dex -- I will say that. I'll have to train up a Dex skill to make up for lost time, which is unfortunate.

    Cool thread. :)
