You know them. You love them. They are a wondrous gift from that can be used for good or evil, but either way always for the amazement of bystanders.
I could see this being used for a spectacular highlight for a quest. Imagine Jupiter 'passing' to the ghost realm in grandeur of a flamestrike, a fireworks wand, and a pyro-technic explosion that could nigh cause the pillars of Virtue to tremble... But I'm probably the only one who can think of a 'noble' use for such chains.
There's some fun stuff you can do with a feature like this... but in 2014, players are sophisticated enough to know how to use it to instakill anyone, in the wild or in a city right next to a guard, with no warning at all, for low cost of 1500gp and 5 minutes preparation. It's probably a recipe for disaster, isn't it?
William Powell slams his book closed "Why does nobody reference my recipes?! Who is this author of the disaster cookbook and why are people always referencing his recipes?!
I can only think of how to kill AFK players with them, and it's a much pricier way of doing it than the current method. Though it has the advantage of taking out a lot of players if you do it right. I always just thought it was a really cool thing, but it is almost impossible to kill an even mildly alert player with it as they need only step away from the pots as they countdown.
There are still better and cheaper ways to insta-kill a lone player on this shard. Purple pot chains would most make it easier to kill large groups of AFK players, as in the glory days of me at WBB taking down 20+ players at once.
For better or worse, I completely support Purple Pot Chains. They're fun. Sucks when you're on the losing end, but you'll learn to be a smarter player. Simply put, Explosion Potions SHOULD explode an Explosion Potion within range of it. Its just a logical function that would make the gameplay more realistic. Just because someone can do something bad with it is NOT a reason for not having it. Is this Era Accurate? Naw, but just the same, I think it'd be a good change. I can already dream up traps for all those l337 PK's.
I do agree with the logical function of it and have commented in support of it in the past. However, I also went a step further to imply that it should also trigger any potions in the packs of anyone in range of damage as well. Dare I say even the explosion spell should trigger the potions of like in a target's pack. However, I'm not a fan of the kind of crap we'd face when there's packs of people running around hitting the 'insta-kill' macro key for stunpunch box killing. Suggest an effective counter for such a function and perhaps there's room for it here. As it stands, there would literally be nothing you can do to survive it.
It's actually quite easy to counter it, all you have to do is move the box two tiles away before it gets axed, additionally a scavenger macro to pick up boxes/chests would completely foil the trap allowing you to use it against others. It's not like it's impossible to insta kill with purple pots now anyway, there are many tricks you can pull off to an insta-kill with purple potions - the only thing is that it requires a lot more work than dropping a box/axing it. I'm completely in favor of this - perhaps a temporary period where purple pots do trigger others to test the effects on the shard?
Whos dropping the box and axing it? If I axe the box, and the potions hit the floor, you are not going to scavenge them, or move them away before stun wears off. It's insta kill.
Haha I'll by cycling purples if I ever see you! If I'm going down, you can be damn well sure I'll take you down with me!
