This lesson will discuss items that you should carry on your person when PvPing. While it is completely possible to grab a few regs or a weapon and some bandages and run out to find a fight, the odds are not in your favor of winning if you are ill prepared.

Before starting this lesson you will need to understand and accept two important truths.
    1. PvP can be very expensive no matter what template you play. The better you get the less expensive it will be, but it's still expensive.
    2. You will lose your loot. A lot. Sometimes before you even get to use it. Get over it, its pixels and there are more out there.
The golden rule to a Felucca style only UO has always been if you can't afford to lose it, don't use it. A supremely accurate kryss of vanquishing is going to give you a greater edge than a force one would, but if you are going to be upset should you die and lose the weapon then you should not use it. Just don't complain when the guy using the vanq kills you in a close fight, he took the risk and he earned the reward.

Below we will discuss the items that need to be carried on you at all times. I will use figures that I feel are sufficient, I'm sure others will disagree. Adjust to your own preference, experienced PvPers who have greater odds of survival will use high stock numbers, but if you are new to PvP there is no reason to donate more than you have to while learning from the school of hard knocks. I will also use list the minimum amount you should have on you and should you go below that number it is time to restock.

    Common Items

    • Greater Heal Potions: Do not use "heal" or "lesser heal" potions, only use "greater heal" potions. Heal potions cannot be consumed while the target is poisoned. There is a 10 second re-use delay wherein you cannot consume another Heal potion. Beware that you can drink a heal potion at full health and it will have no effect. These potions are stackable. Restores between 9-30 hit points immediately on use. Minimum Stock: 15
    • Greater Cure Potions: Do not use "cure" or "lesser cure" potions, only use "greater cure" potions. Cure potions can be used in rapid succession with no re-use delay, you cannot use potion if you are not poisoned. These potions are stackable. Greater Cure Potions have the following chances to cure poison: Minimum Stock: 15
      • 25% chance to cure Lethal Poison (applied by monsters only)
45% chance to cure Deadly Poison (highest level applicable by players)
75% chance to cure Greater Poison
100% chance to cure Standard and Lesser Poison
    • Total Refresh Potions: Do not use "refresh" potions, only use "total refresh" potions. There is no re-use delay and they cannot be consumed while stamina is full. these potions are stackable. Total Refresh restores full stamina on consumption. Minimum Stock: 10
    • Greater Strength Potion: Do not use "strength" potions, only use "greater strength" potions. There is no re-use delay but you cannot consume another Strength Potion while under similar effects. This effect does not stack with the effects of the Strength Spell. Greater Strength provides the user with +20 Strength for a 2 minute duration and will increase the hit points of the player using the strength formula found on the Stats lesson. Minimum Stock: 10
    • Greater Agility Potion: Do not use "agility" potions, only use "greater agility" potions. Using the potion will give the player +20 Dexterity for a period of 2 minutes. There is no re-use delay and no restriction from consumption while already under the effect. Subsequent use while under the effect will simply restart the 2 minute effect timer. This effect does not stack with the Agility spell. Minimum Stock: 10
    • Greater Explosion Potion: Do not use "explosion" or "lesser explosion" potions, only use "greater explosion" potions. Explosion Potions provide the user the ability to hurtle an incendiary at a target within a 10 tile range. Explosion potions damage all targets within a 5x5 tile area around the target, or landing place, of the potion. When used, the player has 3 seconds to throw their potion at a target, or it will explode in their hand causing them damage. On UO:R There is no bonus to Explosion Potion effectiveness for having Alchemy skill. Greater Explosion deals 14-18 damage to all targets in the area of effect. Minimum Stock: 5
    • Bandages: Used to heal and cure yourself or others and able to resurrect others. Must have the Healing & Anatomy skills to use effectively. Minimum Stock: 50
    • Pouches: Small pouches can be purchased at Provisioner shops. Using magery or casting from a scroll you can use the spell Magic Trap to trap the pouches so that should they be opened an explosion will occur and 1 point of damage will be inflicted. This is used as an escape method should an opponent cast Paralyze on you, open the trapped pouch and the damage incurred will free you from the spell. this does not work against paralyzing blow or a stun punch. Minimum Stock: 5, you can however use 1 pouch if you use a macro that automatically recasts Magic Trap to that pouch when you open it but be aware there is the chance of being paralyzed between opening the pouch and recasting Magic Trap if you use that method.
    • Weapons/Shield: Use the appropriate weapons for your template. If you use archery don't forget to stock plenty of arrows or bolts, I suggest a minimum of 100 if you are a Melee Archer and 50 if you are a Archer Mage. it is recommended that if your weapon class can be poisoned that you carry one weapon with deadly poison already applied to it. I also suggest bring one fast hitting weapon and one slower heavy hitting weapon, if your template can take advantage of special moves like concussion blow, crushing blow, or paralyzing blow you should have the weapon necessary to perform those actions on your. If you use the parry skill you should have a good high AR shield that is repaired and will not break quickly. Deciding on whether to use Gm weapons on high-end magic weapons is a personal choice. The more damage that weapon has the ability of dealing, the greater the odds are in your favor.
    • Reagents: Needed to cast spells using the magery skill, reagents are consumables. Black Pearl, Blood Moss, Garlic, Ginseng, Mandrake Root, Nightshade, Spider's Silk, Sulfurous Ash. Minimum Stock: 70 of each reagent.
    • A Rune: Marked to a safe place that is not going to be blocked. You should set up a recall macro using this rune for quick escapes. You should not recall every time you see an opponent but there is no glory is dying 5 vs 1.

    Advanced Stock Items

    • Greater Heal Wand: A magic wand with use charges ranging from 1 - 5 that will cast the Greater Heal spell on it's target with no use of reagents or mana. Can be used while running. This wand can be a life saver when you are on the run and do not have time to stop and cast a heal spell and you are out of healing potions or in the re-use delay.
    • Lightning Wand: A magic wand with use charges ranging from 1 - 20 that will cast the Lightning spell on it's target with no use of reagents or mana. Can be used while running. The lightning wand will deliver those final hits to an opponent when they are redlined are running for safety. Since you can cast this on the run without pausing it gives you the upper hand.
    • Mana Drain Wand: A magic wand with use charges ranging from 1 - 30 that will cast the Mana Drain spell on it's target with no use of reagents or mana. Can be used while running. The mana drain wand is used to break an opponent's magic reflect quickly and harmlessly. Should it reflect back upon you it will cause no health damage and it is easily resisted.

Once you have become proficient at PvP and you get a feeling for how much stock you consume with your playstyle please adjust accordingly. If you are new to PvP and are thinking of joining PvP University do not let amount of supplies or their cost deter you. We will start you off in a "duel" setting which most of these items are not needed to focus on the basics.
