Hello! So this weekend a buddy and I were going to do some once-tamed Snow Leopards and White Wolves for each other in our house on Dagger Isle. I have 70.4 effective skill mind you. I queued up the macro on a once-tamed Wolf and let it run for an hour or two and never got a skill up. So I figured once-tamed White Wolves might just be out of my range for a skill up (even though I can attempt to tame them). So I tried a once-tamed Snow Leopard that I figured I would for sure be in the range for and still no gains (couldn't even tame successfully after an hour or more). Can anyone lend me some advice as to why no skill ups are gained on these once tamed? All the info I have found so far on the forum is that once tames are good for skill ups. Has that changed? Is it because the once-tames were in a house? Thanks!
every time an animal is tamed 6 points are added to its difficulty. The animal might have been tamed by someone before you tamed it making it above your taming level. If you have a zero % chance to tame it you will never gain skill even though you can attempt it. Taming inside a house will not affect the skill levels.
This helps a lot. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15vgA3KvDM2nQpuBEAGrMPnJmrDGkg2GY-BcH29-MClE/edit#gid=0
So the chart leaves me with questions still. It shows Snow Leopards 2nd skill (I am guessing that means once tames) as 59.1 which I have quite a bit more effective skill than that and still no gains or unable to tame? Is it based on true skill?
I did not see this post before. I guess its possible someone had tamed everything in Dagger Isle 3 times before we started because then it would make sense that a snow leopard would be just outside my skill range. But that just seems unlikely to me.
That isn't unlikely at all. I've made probably 5 tamers on UOR from 50 to GM and always came across a few animals that refused to be tamed because they tamed before. Just set a protocol like "if fail 3 times, just kill it unless you know it's a new spawn".
Thanks all for the input! I think I will waste less time next time and just go nuclear on the whole lot so I know exactly what I am attempting to tame. Cheers and good luck!
Yes a lot of people are lazy and don't rename, especially if it is named a. I would find something on the chart that you can gain on fresh spawns, and have your friend retame.
