Can anyone tell me how to keep my razor from disappearing if I change profiles or try to set hotkeys (after changing profiles)? Basically, my razor window turns into a "Wine System Tray" windows-looking bar at the top of my screen, and I lose access to razor itself. If I double click it or right click it to "show razor", it will just make razor minimize into the bottom of my screen, but it doesn't actually appear there. So I completely lose access until I launch UO again. There was probably a less convoluted way of explaining this, oh well. Thanks
I asked NKR to look into some of the issues surrounding the mac client.. Specifically the "Always on Top" selection that plays havok with the client when actually attempted... And making sure that when you select 'Always on Top' that it actually does it.. It's all about the way Wine handles it...
This has kind of been solved by editing an xml file, but it's still problematic. Again, if someone could fix the music files I'll find a way to live with any other problems
In the Profiles folder, for the default xml and each created profile xml, line 41: <property name="Systray" type="System.Boolean">True</property> I was told to change True to False. Mine already said False, so I changed it to True, and I mostly don't get locked out anymore. I don't exactly know what this does but it was suggested by @Eskull, so perhaps he can provide an explanation.
This issue is back, even after a reinstall, and my 2nd client is completely unplayable. Things seem to work ok for a while and then Razor decides to start doing its own thing, even without me changing any settings... Following a fresh install last night Razor was fine, and even minimizing like regular window would, and now it's disappearing again.
Hi @Vandalin. I note you're using a Mac (I think?) and you are using 2 clients. May I ask how you have achieved this? I can't get a second client to launch
Hi @compsays, welcome to UOR. I just installed it twice, so it made 2 copies in their own directories (I just named them UOR and UOR2). I didn't have any problems doing it this way. How did you go about it, and what exactly is happening when you try to launch? As a mac user here it seems like we are all experiencing some problems but they are all different problems! Let me know if you figure out your client problem and I'll assist as much as I can ( which might not be very much...).
Well well well. I haven't tried it for a couple of weeks, having given up (previously nothing would happen when I launched the second client - no Razor, nothing). It was in a different folder etc. etc. So after reading your post, I tried again. It worked! Who knows why Yep, it's a bit like a massive self-help group, the Mac Users, isn't it? Now, if only we could get the music working.......
I'll put this here, just in case anyone else has/has had a similar problem. Occasionally (and it seems to be completely random) my Mac behaves as though the ALT key is stuck down. So if I try to type anything with the letter 'O' in it, my Options menu comes up instead. I don't seem to be able to disable it. As a result of this, the first time I press the ENTER key, UO goes to fullscreen, which leads inevitably to a crash. Toggling fullscreen doesn't help, and it auto-closes. Re-opening that client leads to the same conclusion. The only solution I have is to move that one to trash, reinstall and start again. Highly irritating. I've got that character's macros saved, so at least I can copy them across to the new client, but all other options, scavenger, dress etc. have to be re-entered as if a brand-new client. Anyone recognise that problem?
Hi @Vandalin , I hope I understood you correctly and will try to help! Maybe my method will seem strange to you, but the main thing is that I never have problems with the razor in terms of folding! I also play on mac... The bottom line is this, the main game window I'm playing in (the wine window), I have slightly less visual area of my 13 inch screen, on the right side the wine window is not dense to the screen edge, and the razor is shifted close to the right border of the screen! When I play the main window actively, and the vertical strip of the desktop on the right and the part of the razor is visible at the height convenient for me, with an ordinary mouse click I make the razor work actively with it and click back to the main window and continue the game ... I hope that I have clearly explained the idea, the principle is simple, before I folded the razor and had problems with it, it was very unstable! Well, take the hell out of "all the windows" in the razor settings! Wine is a very capricious program, well, at least in my hands ... Regarding the saved profiles, I can say one thing, I'm old-fashioned as before in the console games, I just copied the file with profiles and save it with my file ... I apologize for this crazy text, it would be easier to throw a screen shot, but I'm off the phone and it's problematic ... Regards, Kiryana
All our problems are nothing compared to the launch of music ... I have long been looking for an answer on my old laptop, that would not break the fragile setting of wine on the basic laptop. Nothing works .... Hi, @Jakob Are you with us? I understand you also play the mac ...
@Kiryana I didn't seem to get a notification for your post here - thanks for the tips! I will try them out when I get some time to play tonight or tomorrow.
I don't use a mac but if that happens again, try to find the UO folder wherever it may be, open the file UO.cfg with a word processor like notepad, and change "FullScreen=on" to "FullScreen=off". That SHOULD make it so you can at least get back to playing without reinstalling completely.
Many thanks for that, El Horno. Funnily enough, I've found a workaround for myself, which I'll post here in case it helps anyone else in the future. When it happens, I wait for it to sort itself out and go into fullscreen mode. Then I open the paperdoll, click the vision tab, de-select Fullscreen and shut UO down. Then when I re-open it, it works fine.
