Starting this weekend (5/18/19) The Renaissance staff have opened an official discord server to better serve the community. While our initial tests with discord long ago were not favorable the technology has moved forward enough where we can manage it, while still being a volunteer operation (I hope). Note: We will not be abandoning the IRC chatroom, and it will take us some time to migrate out bots over to discord. It will still be moderated and monitored by the staff long into the future. Should something negative happen to discord (mass advertising, channel trolling, etc) we will maintain the IRC community/structure to fall back on. However due to so many of our players using discord and only hoping in IRC to contact staff or check on something. It has become a challenge for the staff to support players without resulting to email to carry on a conversation. Or you can access it from the MOTD message ingame by typing [MOTD You can also use this link to join the server For players new to discord here are a few useful tips to make the service roughly similar to IRC. Discord Password Recovery 2 Factor Authentication Account Configuration Setting up a unique nickname in the Renaissance Server (Helpful if you use one name in IRC and a different one in discord) aka "For the love of god use the same name there so Telamon's brain doesn't explode" Blocking and Privacy Settings Some notes about the new server/channel configuration - We have a moderator bot watching the channel for offensive words, and yelling, etc. We are still mastering the bot configuration so report any problems to a volunteer/staff. - Meta links and image posting are currently disabled until we get a better plan for permissions for these things in very busy channels. - We have configured groups for our donors that will provide you with additional permissions in the channel as we can trust players who support the server with additional abilities. This will take some time to get everyone tagged properly. So keep an eye on your email for instructions on getting setup. (Or you can send me a pm with your donation email if you are impatient. - As always advertising other games (in your nickname, active game listing, etc) will be disallowed. - All of our normal IRC rules will be in effect there If any of our more experienced discord players have anything to add to this guide please post it below so I can add it here.
