During the last Anniversary event I noticed something odd about the vesper guard limits. Something I had not paid much attention to before. If you look at the current guard zone you can see that the only reason it covers as much of the west coast line, the SW area, and the NE part of the forest was because they decided to use a single region when several would have done a better job. The current proposal for player comment is the adjustment of the two large vesper guard zones into several smaller zones that correctly cover the town while opening up room for player housing, vendor spots and more common sense guard protection. The proposal would roughly be the changes pictured above (the black lines indicate the new guard region). Only a few players would be affected by this change. Namely the tower on the NE side would no longer be on the edge of town limits along with 2 small houses in the NE section of town. These players and others affected by the change may be given small concessions to compensate them for the change (world decor, offer to move their house forward a few steps, etc). Any proposal would be posted here for review. For any new land opening up a large scale event would be scheduled, most likely a classic OSI style vesper troll invasion where the trolls are provided with the detect hidden skill and players are tasked with kill them and cutting up their corpses to make room for house placement. This would take place at a scheduled date and time so players could be available for it if interested. The staff is currently looking for information on OSI possibly making this change on a shard by shard basis to see if there is any historical data for the change. We have also successfully made changes like this in the past that have gone well (the Ocllo West side Land rush) as an example. Included below are pictures of the current edge of the guard region.
