Anyone know how to turn an RPV file into a GIF? Or specifically, a small portion of the screen of the RPV and turn it into a GIF?

Ya i use a program that just captures the screen, it lets you only capture the UO box and i just press play on rpv and then play on the recorder. The program i use is free for 30 days, then you just give it another junk email and get another 30 days. Its called bb flashback pro 5.

If you already have bandicam, you can do exactly what elhorno just suggested except you don't have to do the free trial period garbage.

So they both record right into a gif? Interesting. Thanks!

BB flashback pro actually takes the recorded video into its video editor after recording and then you do whatever you'd like to it then export it as any of the following: flash, avi, mpeg4, wmp, gif, quicktime, standalone exe, ms powerpoint. There is also an option to upload it straight to youtube if you sign in, which is the option I always choose because it is so darn easy.

I'm going to try using that for the next Fight Night. Upload the vids to youtubes.

Huge thanks to El Horno for producing this:

Also made me realize a lot of the deco in the rune library doesn't look right.

Do all of you see some blue cloth on top of the barrel staves?

I haven't tried this tool, but you can record a part of your screen directly to GIF:

    It's free.

But if you want to record video, you'll need to use something else. This is only for direct to GIF.

Has anyone ever tried recording right into AVI? Last time I tried it seemed to have some frame loss as the whole thing was sped up a tiny bit.

That was my experience as well. Actually I think it had frame loss because it slowed down my entire machine.

For video I tend to use "FRAPS" - but those make some huge high quality raw videos. Better have a 2nd hard drive with a terabyte available ;)
And FRAPS does cost $$. I bought it years ago, well worth the purchase.

But since this question is for GIF, Licecap should do it (but I haven't tried it personally)
