- Previously in Sapphire Saga Mobolin continued kneeling as he observed the area. Last he had known the shrine was overrun and poorly unkempt. The livened scene before him was not what he had expected. He was not entirely certain if he had traversed only space or if time had elapsed as well... His encounter at the Sapphire Fountain was beginning to seem like a dream now that was quickly fading. He slowly, unconsciously rubbed at his nub, a sick habit he'd formed over the years. Before now, he did it unconsciously, for no-one had ever mentioned it to him and since he lost much of the feeling in his right hand he never noticed himself, but now - now things were different for he looked down at his hand as he felt sensation which he'd long forgotten. He looked over at the man who was now raising his voice to hail him, Sir Orrin is the name the stranger would use to introduce himself in a moment, but somehow Mobolin already knew this. It was odd feeling to know something yet to be told him; for now that he knew the man's name, he would not ask it, and then wherefore would it be given him? He was quite unaware that in a tavern very far away, the card of a Knight had just been pulled from Fate's deck and woven into her great tapestry. The power and influence of Fate's stitchings were great indeed. He acknowledged Sir Orrin and returned his salute; not wanting to agitate the man whose gestures and composure had slowly turned from amicable salutations to the clear movements of a warrior's threat assessment. Sir Orrin hid his movements well though, to any other who had not seen years of battle, he still appeared to be aloof and focused on whatever task it was that he had been doing before Mobolin's arrival. "Lay down your arms Sir Orrin. I am Mobolin of OoO, and I am come with open arms and peace," Mobolin spread his arms as he spoke and stepped down from the pedestal. His words were mostly true; for he himself was no threat to any of this land. But he knew that dark power was stirring in the land, and that which he brought with him to this Southern Settlement would require those who received it to oppose the darkness. Regardless of their personal reasons for settling here, all those who came to this land would have no choice in the matter; the darkness would focus here and they had precious little time to prepare the necessary bastions of defense. Sir Orrin set his tools down, "You know my name m'lord yet I do not know from whence ye are nor what your business. If I am to lay down any arms and allow you to take one more step further in this land, you will answer my riddle without delay." Mobolin had not seen this coming. "When I am in a blade, people often look paste me When I am in water, I float on the surface, I show people their faults and perfections Tell me, when you gaze upon me what am I and whom do I reveal?" Mobolin was pleased; this man's simple riddle paired with his ultimatum was a clever way to fool a demon into revealing its true name. A simple yet effective method to prevent servants of the dark from getting the drop on him; "Sir Orrin the answer you seek is held in a reflection, for when I gaze upon it Mobolin the Guardian is revealed." Upon receiving Mobolin's answer, Sir Orrin's posture became visibly relaxed. "It is you. I was told I must have this pool ready for the maiden who would be escorted by a man named Guardian," Orrin's speech became excited as he inquired, "May I.. May I look upon her M'lord? Where is the maiden for whom I have constructed this pond?" Mobolin gave no heed to his request and instead answered with his own query "You mean you've been expecting me? For how long have you been about this task?" "Yes. At least a month m'lord, since the harvest moon celebration at Yew," Sir Orrin recounted. Mobolin took pause; that had been the very night he set off in on Jupiter's errand. He nodded and bade Sir Orrin continue, "And how is it you came to build this pond for the maiden whom you seek?" "Well m'lord, during the celebration I had quite absent mindedly wandered off alone along the peninsula and I encountered a peculiar hag; every bit of her body told me she was beyond aged, but she had the most curious fiery-red hair. All she asked is if I desired to be a noble Knight of the highest Valor. I admitted to her that this was a desire of mine, and it seems that was enough for her to consider a bargain was struck! She bade me seek out this Southern Settlement of Paws and to construct a pond. She promised me that in approximately a month's time a most pure maiden would arrive here and that if I wished to be a true Knight I would have the pond constructed in time for her arrival." Mobolin ruminated over the story he'd just heard, "Very well sir Knight. I cannot say I know who your patron is, but I will admit I am guardian to the purest spirits to grace our lands. Let me see this pond you've fixed and I shall inquire if any of the daughters under my charge wish to call it home." With a slight look of confusion, Sir Orrin turned to his side and motioned to the pond just behind him. "What do you mean, old father, call it home?" Mobolin gave no indication he would relieve Sir Orrin's confusion. He walked towards the pond, and pulled a vial from his belt. Within the vile, the pure blue water swirled with visible excitement. It appeared for a moment as if small fireflies were zipping about within the water. He removed the top from the vial and a bolt of light shot forth from within. Both Mobolin and Orrin watched as it reached a slow apex and then after turning a perfect arc it dove with even greater speed straight for the water. Sir Orrin jumped and fell slightly back from where he stood at the edge of the pond; surprised by the incredible splash that such a small speck of light created. He turned and jumped again startled that Mobolin was now standing right beside him. Mobolin lifted his favorite hand and rested it on Sir Orrin's shoulder; the inflections in his voice was both adjuring and complimentary, "Your work has been accepted noble knight. You will see to it that you fulfill the threat you gave to me just moments ago if any who mean her harm set foot near Sapphire Pond."
