Use animal taming and cancel the cursor. Want to use another skill? Go ahead! Use animal lore and cancel the cursor. Want to use another skill? Sorry you must wait 10 seconds. and the list goes on.... There is no reason for all that. For me the 2 most annoying skills are provocation and detect hidden. Can't even use an axe, to chop a trash barrel , after canceling or using detect hidden. 10 second wait every time. But hey, if you want you can chuck purple potions for those 10 seconds. Makes no damn sense.
The axe use delay is a bug that has yet to be remedied. I think it came along with the Detect Hidden bonus/update that shows door lock status, etc. As for the Taming thing, you'd never be able to tame a dragon with that use delay on attempts. While I do agree there's room for improvement in the use delays on barding skills, I don't think Taming needs a change there. At best, I think a reduced timer for having more bard skills would be great, which has been discussed in other threads. I'd also like to see a uniform 5s cooldown on failure attempts for Peace and Discord, like Provocation gets.
One minor thing that annoys me about the skill timer with peacemaking (maybe this is the same for other barding skills but I haven't used them so I can't say) is that if you use the skill and it asks which instrument you want to use, if you don't choose an instrument you have to wait 10 seconds before using the skill again. Sometimes I don't see the message about the instrument and just click on whatever I want to pacify, as I normally would with peacemaking. 5 second cooldown on peacemaking and discord failure would be cool. If that is indeed how it works with provo, I don't see why it shouldn't work for the other two bard skills. Especially considering that the other two barding skills are kind of weaker than provo.
I would like to add tracking to the list. 10 second delay should be initiated after selecting Animal / Monster / NPC / Player... Accidentally closing the initial menu and waiting 10 second is not necessary. Obviously this needs to reflect skill gain as well.
The skill check for tracking is made when the list of targets is generated. This is why the timer is set at that point, not at the point of selecting who to track. Generating the list of tracked creatures is the action that requires the delay (stress on the server). Selecting a target from a list requires no server side activity or skill check on the players part.
