Looking for some good combos, I haven't rolled a mage since OSI. Ones I'm fond of so far are Explo/E-bolt Cunning/Mind Blast Para/Stone Wall (orc krimp tactic) What's some more?
I always liked Exp / Poison(optional) / Ebolt / Ebolt I'm not really sure it gets more effective without adding wands or teamates Exp/Flamestrike would be nice if Flamestrike didnt eat your mana like the cookie monster in a oreo warehouse
Yeah, I love FS but it seems best to save the mana for different spells unless absolutely sure it will finish them
Explosion > Fast Cast Ebolt > Start Purple Pot > Target Ebolt When Cursor Comes Up > Start Second Ebolt > Re-acquire Purple Pot Cursor > Throw Pot (at proper time) > Target Second Ebolt. Also works well with lightening and a plethora of other combinations.
Does anyone REALLY use anything else besides: Explode + Paralyze + Meditate (x10) or Ebolt + Ebolt + Ebolt + Ebolt + Recall Lets be real for a second.
Swords/Hally Mage: Hally combos works the best with a preloaded ebolt in my opinion Hally Hit -> Release Ebolt -> fastcast Ebolt can kill a target within 2 Seconds if they are very slow on heals Hally Hit -> Release Ebolt -> poison -> Ebolt longer combo and can kill a target without pots fairly easy preload poison: Hally Hit -> Release Poison -> Harm lock Hally Hit -> Release Poison -> Ebolt / MB For everything else i use Swords, poisoned Katanas should be prefered here. If it comes down to pure 5x Fights these combos has proven very helpful to me: Explo -> Poison -> Ebolt/MB -> Poison -> Ebolt/MB can be an insta killer if both Poisons hit and the target cant use Cure Pots (5x duels for example) Explo -> Poison -> Harm lock -> ebolt/MB finisher Explo -> Explo -> Poison -> Ebolt one of my favourite combos. If you face an unprepared opponent it can take him out right away. Remember that you will need the suprise effect working for you. There are quite a lot a LOT of combos you can use here and which gets used, just remember to know a good variety to suprise your opponents. One might actually take them out.
Quiet a lot of info there, thank you! Seems like harm is the go-to interrupt here, since magic arrow has the delay? I got some practice in last night with my mage, but I was pretty inebriated, and I'm still getting used to my new spell hot keys (thanks to those that helped in IRC last week with re-arranging them) but I was able to hold my own in a 2v1, damn that felt good! My challenge is being an orcish mage, the only viable weapon I can use is a Qstaff. Hopefully soon I can find a sparring partner to practice some of the things in this thread, get my swing time down with the Qstaff, and start working on purple pot tossing. I'll probably never be l33t or anything, just want to be able to PvP and have some fun. Thanks for the suggestions guys and gals, keep em' coming! NOOGGRRAAAHH!!
Oh, I forgot about using wands... need to set up some hot keys/macros for Gheal and Lightning wands next week
Fast casting is just referring to getting rid of spell delay by holding the previous spell for a moment first. If you were to cast two spells in succession, and then cast the same two spells, holding the first spell for a moment first, the second spell would cast faster. ie fast fast.
There are some badass Mace Mages out there, and they are working insanely good. QStaff can also be quite deadly in pit fights if your opponent runs out of Stam. Pots. Agility pots to buff your dexx is a must go too. I would either try to preload poison or ebolt and try to dexx them down -> release Spells in a suitable moment. Preload Gheal/Cure if you are on the defending side. Note that you also can do some fake outs with Explo -> Cancel -> Ebolt and hold it for example. Opponents eventually forgot to count them in, and they can be quite a suprise sometimes. releasing an Ebolt after a few weapon hits and casting Poison afterwards works great here for example, and can get people off guard. For field pvp you will also have your Orc companions, so you should be fine reguardless Some Archer hits and Explo -> Ebolt might take a single opponent out right away
Its hard to to give you a combo w/o knowing for what situation! If its on the field, being on foot isnt a big advantage! 1vs1 on the field with good pvper it will be hard to score a kill ... But i like to do, if reflect is off, weaken, explo, poison, MA, clumsy, get rdy to stun, MB cast, stun, MB, MB ... Its working good on mage opponent. But with pots its hard to be sucessfull! If ur opponent is healing mage, be sure u dont dmg him before u start ur combo or he will have the healing timer otw! If u masterize the explo pots its great, but can't be pretty hard. If u fail with the timer u could dmg urself and die! I saw some people using Explo, cunning, MB, MB, MB ... dont forget to weaken and clumsy first! see u soon! Ps : i m always up to duel btw!
