Starting Conversations on Forums

I feel really embarrassed to admit this, but I have no idea how to initiate a conversation with somebody on the forums. Can somebody explain the process of doing that to me? I figured there would be a button like the "Create Thread" button that I could click but I have had no luck finding anything on here or when I Googled it. Thanks in advance!

Should be a pop-up box. Choose "Start conversation".


Alternatively - go to their profile, click on "Information" and scroll to the bottom. You should see "Start Conversation" there too.

Edit - If you can't find these the person has PMs switched off.

Thank you for the help. I really appreciate the clear navigation to Start a Conversation. Strangely, I clicked on about 20 different peoples' usernames and every single one of them was missing the "Start a Conversation" option.

@Derek Dauntless That would be due to the user's privacy settings. Your account -> Privacy -> Start Conversations with you (box checked; options members only and people you follow).

I went to my account -> Privacy -> Start Conversations with you. The box was checked and it said Members Only. I tried it like that, I tried it with "People You Follow" checked. I tried it unchecked completely. Each time, I tried to find anybody at all on the entire forums to Start a Conversation with. In 100% of the cases (and I assure you, I've tried with DOZENS of people) I did not have the option to start a conversation. I'm at a complete loss. I really appreciate people trying to help but something seems to be messed up and I have no idea what it is.

Can you reply to a conversation that someone else starts?

Yes I can. Once somebody else starts a conversation with me, I can reply within that conversation easily. The only issue I run into is initiating the conversation with somebody else.

As far as I know. I've had my account for a long time. How can I check? Another thing I suppose I could try is to create a new forums account and see if that does anything.
