On death, you immediately revert to your original name. This wasn't the case during actual UO:R, but since "era accuracy" isn't the primary goal of the server, I'll explain why I think this is a problem. Suppose a thief is pretending to be "Nancy" the guard, or some other possible NPC-named disguise. If I want to know who they are, I can just kill them and have a ghost standing by to see who it is. Personally, I think the name should stay for 2 hours or until incognito is cast, but another solution would be to revert them to the original name on res, instead of on death.

Additionally, when a disguised thief dies, the corpse may display the disguise-name, but when chopped up, the parts are given the real name? I assume this must be a bug.

Finally, the online death/kill database kind of removed the purpose of a disguise kit in ways which I am sure are apparent. Anyone you kill can learn your true name by using this system in myUOR, which I should think is unintended.

    Thanks!

I Agree i don't recall getting my name back on my thief on death. It was always just on a timer for the period of the disguise kit until it wore off.

Yeah I always used to be annoyed at it ruining my macros. So I would just leave my character afk for like 2 hours when I was done playing.

Maybe it isn't unintended, and it's like so so you can know who to look for for vengance.

This is a known issue, and is on my todo list. Players who have their settings marked private will be filtered or listed as "unknown" on the other players kill log.

As for the disguise kits this issues is currently on our fix list as well.

One should note however all it takes is a simple razor macro to find out who the real character is for someone using a disguise kit. Since all characters are assigned a unique ID that can be matched to the database.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean the use of disguise kits is detrimental for thieves? As long as they sport their real names, a name might be known to be used by a thief, but the character could be a thief or not (without unique names). If ID and current name do not match up, however, it is certain the character in question is a thief.

If so, era accurate mechanics would simply be an annoyance, due to the macro-related issues snap dragon mentioned.. so it's basically just the cut-up-corpses that need fixing? And perhaps name-change on resurrection, as suggested, but if they're stalking you with ghosts anyway, there's no reason not to follow you around until you res.

The macro resetting problem is not an issue when you allow incognito to remove the disguise effect. Additionally, in the modern client there is a way to create a default set of macros, desktop.mul, et al. so that this becomes a non-issue. I have posted how to do this on the forums already.
