I vote for muderers being able to steal.
My second choice is not allowing players to keep open their lock box as it breaks the fabric of physics...

    Voted for:

Steal success chance (should be slightly improved)
Rare Items weight (Thiefes are the class to go if you want to take rares from other ppl... having a pk wont help you in 99% of the cases here)
Murder counts (Suggestion: 2 longs max though)

    ergo:
Slight buffs for town thiefes, make thiefes more viable to go for rare stealing.

Make sure that Rares will become the business to go to if youre playing a thief.
Add spawnable rares that require both lockpicking and stealing, but also stealth (no more recalling around for fast checks)
Make rares easier to steal from other players (everything else is ok though in my opinion)

Thiefes should have the option to take opportunistic kills on players, but it needs to be reasonable.
(shouldnt be allowed to take more than 1-2 long term counts MAX)

    other suggestions:
Make Town stealing a little bit more viable (no hidden ethy mounts, but maybe slightly reduced guards)
Successful steal = perma grey (still blue to others though, message for both players, but no option to call guards)

I suppose this is a better way to go.
But my point of view on reds being able to steal is:
If i am going to cut you down and take the clothes off your back...
Then wouldn't it seem right that i would also have no qualm with straight up robbing you too?

But i suppose that being grey is considered a counterbalance to theft.
So if one is red, and not allowed in guards anyways...
Then there really is no penalty for stealing.

I'd just like to see weights, fails, npc calls, the lock box/armoire crap fixed, and a few other tweaks. In era if I remember correctly you could almost insta mount an ethy and while hidden.

I'm not for any changes that are far removed from the original play style such as being able to steal with counts. You're a thief not a murderer.

I too would love to see npc's mind their business.
    And if that isn't possible...
Then at least tighten their LoS and range they can call guards.
An NPC beggar guard calling on you from across the screen at a crowded bank is insane.
Dude is broke too! Why would he care??
And that's quite some eagle-eye vision!
I can understand if one is within 2 tiles and it's a sloppy steal...

Definitely the lock box thing has gotta change.
If i can't snoop it, then you shouldn't be able to access it either.

Man you guys should just keep young people young forever.

Teach them if a thief steals they can be attacked even if blue. Problem solved. it worked for half a decade on UO. Teach them to thief proof themselves. Teach them not to carry anything worth more than a tmap or things along those lines. Education is the key, not nerfs. There's already a bug where you can steal from a thief to find out if he's perma (this should be removed) a non perma thief can dry steal a perma thief and if the perma thief attacks the aggressor, then he gets killed by guards (this def should be removed)

The main reason I'm against the always go grey is this: I bank all of my regs/pots/things I need to not get mowed down by 2-10 people, I bank because the chances of auto dying are pretty damn high. If I stayed blue 1/2 - 1/4th of the time I could get my supplies out. If there wasn't more npc guards on every corner and line of every bank here I wouldn't worry about it so much. (There's a guard on top of Trinsic Royal for some reason)

And having to cast wall of stone a dozen times is dumb. I like that we have at least some chance using WOS, but wish it wasn't a needed thing. (You cannot cast this inside of yew bank)

There are so many bad mechanics I'd really have to sit down and remember them all. It really gets my goat that people take up for pks who have leader boards, blessed runebooks, and cys, and so on. Looking at the leaderboards you have to do some special ed mental gymnastics to act like thieves cause more players to leave than murderers.

Adding in rare content is not a bad idea, but if anyone in era remembers these guys were called crate thieves and the real thieves made so much fun of them you'd get a stratics ban for talking trash or even calling them crates. This was what they REPLACED player/pvp stealing with. Doom and all that nonsense. It should be added to flesh out the class, not to replace player vs player stealing.

I just failed on a stack of 54 recall scrolls 2 times in a row and stayed blue.

    1. it's bullshit to fail 2 times in a row at gm
    2. you never would stay blue on fails in era. (or have a fail on stacks)

we really need the skill to start stealing in the 8-10 stone range and not the 1-4 like it usually does.

In ERA mechanics worked fine. Everyone adjusted and learned to deal with it. You discredit people's intelligence by acting like they can't adjust or handle thieves, yet when pks make rounds people are told to farm somewhere else and blah blah blah.

I have Iago blocked due to him being not only the dumbest player here, but the biggest douchebag on top of that. So I never see nor care to respond to anything that guy says. I esp wouldn't trust his judgement on the thief class whatsoever.

I just failed on a 1 stone key. Absurd, almost as absurd when I failed on a war fork the other day 6-8 times in a row.

At Gm we shouldn't fail on items under 5 stones at all.

One again you're not taking a stance from the era accurate perspective of stealing. (After Telamon's statements that you could never stay blue after a steal, using the run uo code and patch notes as his back up, and he's totally wrong, which I've proven) I don't think a majority of people here know anything about how stealing was in ERA.

It worked fine, if we got it working like it did then, there would be no problems. If we added content on top of that, it'd be top notch.

A GRANDMASTER thief is not going to fail stealing a 1 stone item, they may turn grey, but they would not outright fail that steal.

The only things I ever felt nervous about failing on were 8-10 stone items. There was more of a chance that a player on the other side of the bank would hit his bank macro and get you killed than failing on low weights or having npcs call on you a majority of the time.
