Something that may be helpful for the new auctioneers on UOR:

A lot of auctions are posted that have a duration listed as "48/24", without going into much detail. I always understood this as:
    • If there's only one bid, the auction ends 48 hours after the bid
    • If there are multiple bids, the auction ends 24 hours after the last bid
Are there any other common bid formats that are referred to in shorthand like 48/24? I'll add them to the list above.

(If that's not correct for the "usual understanding" of 48/24, please let me know)

Then there is the non-conditional timing format, e.g. 24 hours after last bid it's over.

And finally there is the worst of them all, the Sniper format: This auction is over at XY PM.

Oh, let's not forget the Anarchy style auction: complete randomized stomach-feeling decisions when it's over. Usually when the Seller is online and available, he picks the last post and skips any rules.

I like quick sales. It's stupid to wait 2 days to buy a weapon or something.

A huge or expensive home, sure, but I'm not waiting 2 days to sell a sword to make an extra 5k. When bidding slows down, I sell my items. Personal preference. I also generally don't bid on things that are 2 day auctions with more than 1 bid.

    Should be "48/24".

When you write "24/48", you're actually saying it'll close 24 hours after only one bid or 48 hours after the last of multiple bids.

Say what you mean and mean what you say...
