"Rivers shift, mountains crumble, indeed even entire continents can break apart and drift. Yet an ancient wyrm always knows where her treasures lie..." - excerpt from Morander's Second Chronicle **************************************************************************************** They all saw it happen in an instant. They knew before they had departed that some of them might not return, but none had considered for a moment that Jupiter would be the first to fall. The ancient wyrm had burst through Jupiter's arcane net as if it were naught but cobwebs. Catalin stood frozen, it was his plan that he saw fail before his eyes. But his brooding was interrupted as Sir Selotick raised his ax which he had fondly named B'add Azure the Dragon Hewer. As Selotick charged, Felshurner and Valentine let fly their arrows and for a split second Selotick kept pace with them. The arrows rebounded from the tough hide as though it was formed of hardened steel. The giant serpent turned towards them and spout a ball of flames that seemed to have been drawn from the bellows of hell. Using the distraction Shadbak, the she orc of Paws, tried to collect Jupiter's robes that now lay on the dusty road. Before she could reach them the massive tail lashed with lightning speed and the thunderous force sent Shadbak flying; her sudden flight ended abruptly with an oak tree that stood in her unplanned flight path. Catalin was still staring in disbelief as a man in a tall straw hat yelled frantically in the distance waving his arms. "Catalin! Move!," came another voice. It was not only Valentine's voice that shook him from the daze, but the impact as he collided knocking him out of the way of another blazing orb that exploded behind them. From his fallen perspective, Catalin thought for a moment that he saw the Grey Wizard battling the creature head on. The vision dissipated as his eyes regained focus on the giant monstrosity, and through it he saw their hope restored. Catalin leapt to his feet and cried out orders "Valentine! Fel! Let fly your arrows and keep it distracted. Selotick, with me! We ride into the belly of the beast!" "Are you mad?" Came the axman's reply "Not any more so than last Tuesday! The wizard is the crazy one! He battles still with the wyrm and he's weakening the creature's spirit! we must use this to our advantage while we can!" He pulled the reins to turn his faithful stallion and they dashed at their foe. As if unaware that it had a fatal infection the wyrm made no change in it's offense, it raised it's massive claw in preparation to swat Catalin into the after life, but Selotick raised B'add Azure and with one fluid swing he separated claw from limb. If ever it were possible for a dragon to express an emotion it was shown now on the wyrm's face as it watched it's claw sailing to the west. The battle was soon ended as blow after blow and bolt after bolt sank with ease into the once impenetrable hide. Rivers shift, mountains crumble, indeed even entire continents can break apart and drift, but never will be forgotten the day the Warriors of Requirement vanquished the ancient evil on the forest road to Paws. *Edit Aftwards: Oh yeah, and there was a Paladin named Alake who fought bravely and died forever. Apparently her armor was shiny and amplified the dragon's fire. She was cooked through and through. None of us realized he was a she, until after she perished...
Everyone who was here, please add moar pics! Warriors of Requirement organize This is what Jupiter's death looked like Catalin doesn't fear evil things! (is that 4k that he's holding?) Catalin resists evil!
