Hi all, i'm a returning player after 4-5 year or so.. my first toon was not so developed so i'm effectively starting again..

my main toon will be a warrior, a macefighter.. i've read the guides here but can't find an information.. i need to know if there are bonuses from working skills on various weapons..

i.e. lumberjack for axes, mining for maces, etc..

aannd.. i suppose that res spell is a must have..

    thanks for you help :)

Welcome back, a fun and pretty mean template for your new toon might be a tank Mage macer and look a little something like this:

    Macing
    Tactics
    Anatomy
    Magery
    Med
    Eval
    Resist

Stat wise, a nice 90 STR, 45 DEX, 90 INT will see you through most scenarios. You could afford to lose a little more INT to DEX if you’re feeling ambitious but be aware that unbalanced stats will make you bait for some seriously rowdy mindblasts that could knock your sandals off.

Leather armour, DEX pots (agility potions) and wands are gonna be your friends here, wands count as macing weapons and where they themselves don’t do much damage the accompanying lightning and other attributes would make for a fun and unexpected action in a fight.

As with everything here though it won’t take you long to figure out what’s best for you. My main character has tracking which has been nerfed for years but I still love it. There’s random skills you can switch up into your template to create a more unique build, for example you could replace EVAL for hiding. Your spells will do less damage but if you’re in trouble you can bolt round a corner and disappear, you can also replace EVAL with healing which alongside anatomy will provide you with a secondary way of keeping yourself alive or lose anatomy altogether and replace it with inscription for increased buffs on certain spells.
Good luck out there brave warrior!

    Welcome back.

There are special moves for swords/mace/fencing weapons.

The special move for mace weps is the crushing blow.

You must use a war hammer for the crushing blow.

    Good luck out there.

Thank you all for your replies and your welcome :D

so.. well.. so many scenarios from a simple question :D seems i will have to plan something different from the old classic templates :D

and... what about archery? i still haven't seen a single archer.. while i used to be a full archer in the very first years (but.. we're talking about '99.. it's a lot of time and patches :D)

I’d swerve archery on an early build bud.
Expensive and not as exciting as it used to be.

Archery is all about what you want to use it for. It may not be the most effective but if you enjoy it I'd recommend!

Archery received some love not too long ago, I remember testing it and coming to the conclusion that it's actually decent, if used right.

The trick is to shoot in a sweet spot of 2 to 6 tiles of distance to the target. It can be devastating in groups with some coordination, practice and know how.

Wouldn't recommend it for solo pvp play, unless you enjoy it. Somewhat decent on pvm builds like fishers. Archer turrets are a fun thing to do too.

For pvm I'd propably pick provo archer, or some sort of ranger RP build with bow rafting for the flair.
