This will likely turn into a series of threads, but I'll start with this.

    1. What types of housing, shops, etc. do YOU think a player town should have?
    2. Match up which house/shop should be in which building type.

    Fortress/Castle for?
    Keep for?
    Large Towers for?
    Large Bricks for?
    L Shapes for?
    Large Marbles = Not Allowed.
    Large Patio for?
    Villa for?
    Sandstone for?
    Small Tower for?
Small 2 story and 1 story houses for?

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Winter

I always liked the smaller house prints when making towns. Very few large houses for gathering spots, and then smaller houses deco'd up to represent the vendors found there.

Village of Virtue (VoV) on Napa Valley was always my favorite. They had a large brick that was the town hall, a large smithy that was the pub, and the rest were smalls decorated for different aspects of a town. Tailor, Smithy, Fisher's hut, butcher, few small "homes" w/ beds and drawers etc. Always was aesthetic to me, as it looked like a "functioning" town, opposed to huge towers and castles all over.

The plan has evolved a bit since then but basically the same.

You should definitely use the Large Marble for a brothel named “Winter’s Wonderland”.

    Winter,

The Azoth's Museum Patrons Organization applauds your efforts to bring a sense of community to your area of the lands. Buildings with purpose need decoration and we happen to have lots in storage going unused. Please accept the following as our gift to you and the new community you are forming.

    Wow. Thank you.

Some people know and some don't that I'm trying to breathe some life back into Wispfelt. I've heard some amazing stories about Westra, the founder, and how kind she was to everyone. I'd like to make sure Wispfelt isn't forgotten.

Stay tuned for progress and future plans.

I think a lot of it depends on what look you're going for. Is this going to be a military type garrison, a forest village, a crafter's commune, a farm village, a manor house complex, etc. Once you decide that it will really help get a basic layout/look in your head.

Then it's just a matter of choosing housing that fits your theme. For instance, you wouldn't want a massive marble palace in the middle of a quiet forest village. It just doesn't fit.

As far as types buildings...Here's what I think works...

    Large Tower: Guard garrison/HQ
Small Stone Tower: Mage/Wizard's keep, guard locations if posted around perimeter
Large Brick: Town Hall / Guild Hall for meetings
Keep and up: GM's residence, mayor, governor, etc.
    2-story: Inn or Healer/hospital
    large patio: tavern or blacksmith
villa: upper level residence or rune library
    small houses: residences
stone workshop: Crafter's house, vendor, blacksmith shop
Log Cabin: Hunter/tannery with vendor selling leather armor, carpentry goods, etc.
Sandstone: If you're next to water these make good shipwright's

    Just my 2 cents
