Well hello all! I just started on this shard a couple nights ago and so far it looks like a great way to scratch my UO itch. As for the obligatory background info, I am a long time Sonoma veteran, hardcore player from T2A through Ren, back again several times through several eras, even after AOS crapped all over my beloved game. I was active in the Tram community there as a first rate beastie basher, farmer, collector, decorator, and did really well for myself on IDOC's and the real estate market. On the Fel side I was the GM of a large and loyal True Britainian factions guild, despite having the PVP prowess of a drunken mongbat. My guild's motto was, "We OoOOooO So You Don't Have To!" so needless to say I'm all about the fun and don't take things real serious or personal. My only free shard experience was a stint on UOSA a year or so ago. I had a great time of course, but when my entire game experience boiled down to fishing MiB's and doing lvl 1 T-maps because every halfway decent hunting spot was blanketed with ghost-cams, it got tiresome and I hung it up. Not that I mind the occasional death and dry-looting at the hands of a nefarious character, but I prefer it not to be such a huge part of my hunting experience. So much of what I have seen here so far looks great and the custom content looks quite intriguing. I hope to find a new home and a good fit here in your fine community.
Woot! Welcome to UO:R! Fellow Sonoma veteran here! Went by the names of Dinin, Gorbash, Bili the Axe, Shadowdale....ran with a decent sized guild (who's name I simply can't remember :/) Mishell and Scott were a few in there...anyway..nice to see ya here!
Hey! Plenty of like-minded people on this server, I also happen to share your PvP skills so I am use we will get along just fine If you need some help starting out there are plenty of guilds that run new player housing (myself included) and would be happy to give you a leg up unlit you get that first 43800 gold.
Thank you guys for the welcome. It's good to see a fellow former Sonoma resident here too Mobolin. So far I am just loving this shard. I do a bit of macroing here and there but for the most part I have just been out playing. Started recreating my old Sonoma Provo Tamer and have been having a blast roaming around in all my high 60's-skill glory with my pack of grizzly bears killing what I can. Banked enough gold for a small house, but I think I'll just live at the inn until I can afford something nicer. This place is great. I recommended the shard to a Facebook Sonoma Veteran group I am part of, see if I can't coerce some more people to come aboard. My wife will be starting tonight too.
I thought I would just mention a tip for any newbie role-players. If you double-click one of your characters you can write in a character background on the left of the two scrolls, just a couple of lines or so on who the character is. :
In OSI Europa, that's where the physical description of the character would lie. Interesting that US players don't do this.
I always used it as a description, too. It never made sense to me from a roleplaying standpoint that a stranger could somehow know your character's background story. Welcome aboard Ningauble! Glad to hear you're liking it so far.
I've always used that notepad area on the paperdoll to place items that I am either buying or selling
Wylwrk, I have played many US servers (IPY, Rel Por, UO Second Age) and you are the first to break my "generalisation". Signed, Europe
