    Welcome to UOR.

You won't find many ghost cam players here. Most prefer to use living hidden characters to function as their cams.

Welcome! Let any of us know if you need help with anything!

Make sure you get on IRC, as that is where the community hangs out and talks these days! Feel free to join #PS channel and ask any question you have about the game, or if you need a hunting partner. We're to help!

And just like any Fel server, hunting is always an adventure wrought with danger; as long as you have an escape macro and are aware of your surroundings you will do just fine.

I think this is very good point from Alice Asteroid! Done like that, as only "what you see" information, we avoid giving the background story even in summary form. I need to review what I have put in my characters' description and do some edits as necessary.

    What is an escape macro??

I have always found that the whole business of someone fighting and at the same time applying bandages very odd. Especially while holding a shield, but even shieldless it is hard to understand.

I still have not mastered the use of IRC, I must devote time to doing this!

An escape macro is a macro you make in which you cast the spell Recall and target a specific rune. You can then set that macro to a hotkey for a quick escape. Just remember to re-target the rune the macro uses any time it changes.

I would like to thank the Councillor who came in a puff of white smoke (and left the same way!) and gave my runaway serf, Jon Silverman, some useful advice re blacksmithing. And the other player who gave me some items of clothing. Jon's blacksmithing was helped a lot. It has been some years since I had a blacksmith character and my memory is not so good any more so I just forgot! There is a way to save journal text, but that too I have forgotten.:(

The macro that Alice Asteroid mentions (above) is for mages, I believe. However, many non-mage players use spells to travel round, using the moon-gates. I did so to get to Ilshenar and also to Delucia. Delucia, neither of which could be reached by moon-gates. So I had a rune book. Delucia was interesting, a sort of wild west, though also quite dangerous.

The Yew Militia also had one person as a sort of Jesuit guardian of the faith, to reveal and punish the use of magic in the Militia. I think there was only one at any time with this task, and it was before I learned the usefulness of rune books.

I was in the Yew Militia for a couple of years, as footman. Wish I had stayed. I was allocated two Danish players to advise me, Hans and Elisabeth Yreap. Once we travelled by ship to somewhere (I forget where) and Hans came along to fend off sea monsters. They also taught me that in dungeons I needed to target enemies by clicking on them. It was still hard, as in a melee it was not so easy to target, and sometimes I targeted a militiaman by mistake. I was very green in those days and soon learned to stop going to dangerous places altogether. Now in my 70s after a stroke I have become even more careful.

I wonder what time system UOR uses? In UO it passes fast: http://uo.stratics.com/content/basics/datetime.shtml.

I ask because I bought a horse and left it at the stable and was told if it was left there a week the stableman would sell it. I went to pick it up a couple of days later and it was gone.

Hmm that is interesting. I would assume that you did something you didn't realize you did IE: didn't actually stable it or something like that. It is a real week not a week in UO time. I know it is accurate as I have never lost a pet and have a few that I just refresh in the stable once a week!

Hi. And welcome here. :) Please do hop on irc anytime. It's a great place to ask questions and met other players. We have a fantastic player community here, wonderful staff and tons of stuff to do for every play style.

Couple suggestions. Do NOT carry a rune book in your inventory, they are not blessed here and can be taken. I suggest one bank rune and regents/recall scroll for traveling. Also... don't forget, can afk macro skills, but not resources.

I'm Westra on irc, Marjo is my main character in game.

If you get a chance, after you leave Occlo, come visit Wispfelt. It's my player village, situated in the clearing above West Brit cross roads,
Have a rune library there, several houses open for player use ( tailor etc) Wispfelt is home to PVM guild All the homes in Wispfelt have little trees on porches. Good old school style decorating.

Know you will love it here.

    :)

No the stable boss took the horse and told me if it is not claimed within the week he will sell it. Is that once a real week? If it is, I should not have lost it. Its no big deal, a lot of in game cash but all part of the experience…

Something else that I lost out on was the special in-game bonus you get when you have donated to UOR. I've now done it twice, 5 dollars a time but nothing came into my character's bank and I don't have a UO:R Subscriber flash on the post, like Andersonius a couple of posts above this.

I am not aware of any "in game" bonus given to anyone donating or subscribing. I received nothing in game for becoming a subscriber nor was I ever told there was one. In fact one of the big sticking points is that there is no bonus as well as no in game store where you can buy things for real money. As far as the tag on the forums just contact @Chris and he will get it up there for you. That is the only bonus given for subscribing/donating aside from of course helping out the server a bit! There is a thread in the discussion forum concerning getting your donater/subscriber tag here on forums.

The stable master holds onto your pets for a real weeks time not in UO time. On Mondays I will restable my pets. I always do it on Monday and they are always there the next Monday when I go to do it again so I am not completely sure what happened there with you but sorry it happened!

I thought the stable master would withdraw gold from your bank to keep pets in your stable refreshed? I have pets that have been in my stable for months and they have never been refreshed.

That very well may be! The stable master says what he says and I always believed it thus I have been refreshing my pets every week! He says "In one real world week, I shall sell it off it is not claimed."

I'm posting here again, just because I want this to become the "Ningauble Walking Dead Thread" which amasses and collects topics of all sorts from "welcomes" to "shard content ideas" to "PvP Rants" :)

First, I again want to welcome any and all perpetual newbs.

Second, I want to say that I think we should have flying chariots

Thirdly, I want to say that I beat all you newbs 1v1 no pots all day long all day every day.

*Jupiter watches as the thread raises off the bed and mutters*
