I always thought anatomy was working for Archery damage. What I remember is Tactics bonus on archery weapons being Archery skill bonus. Anatomy and Fletching would add dmg. Guess I could drop anatomy on my hybrid archer if it's the case.
Anatomy and Tactics give damage bonuses to Archery. The increase skill from weapon mods should increase accuracy.
I would honestly rather see it normalized with all other weapon classes. No Accuracy variations and Anat/Tact damage bonuses, with "Accuracy" mods on weapons adding to Tactics (not Archery).
I posted on archery in the wrong thread, in "player interactions". Apologies for that: it should have gone here instead: It is worth adding that an archer character ideally has more dexterity, and the elven race would be a good choice for this. I haven't seen any elves in-game in UO:R (though elves often wore a bandana to hide their ears) nor the elven tree that existed in Yew after Mondain's Legacy. Along with that came Heartwood, elven bows, and much more besides. It might even encourage the setting up of the Guardsmen Militia who were against elves and magic.
So many good suggestions. I hope they don't get buried and/or overlooked in this large thread. My vote is for bleed that does x static damage and +x% more if the target takes steps. More steps more the % increase on the DoT.
There really needs to be an upgrade of some sort to archery. It's a beautiful skill that doesn't get much love here.
The people that argue being ranged is archerys special attack... Its seriously underpowered for the range it has. Unless you feel like standing in melee distance, its kinda jenk and at that point you might as well just be melee.
Also its really not range like you would think unless there are multiple people between you and the enemy. You have to stop to make a good shot so with that you would catch up to the archer. Its even shorter then a full screen for range.
Accuracy and damage should be the same no matter where you are. Dismount seems a bit OP - especially in group situations
Give Tinkering a reason to exist. Tinkerers could make specialized arrows. Explosive Arrows could be one. The other could be less a stun, but more of a temporary dismount arrow. I like the poison arrow idea, however I think a syringe tip would need to be crafted.
another shard i played years ago used "poisoned cloth" which looked like oil cloth only darker green i think. you applied poison to the cloth, and each cloth would have a certain amount of poison charges, and when you kept them in your pack, you'd "poison the tip of the arrow with the cloth" before shooting it.
My 3 characters are all supported financially by 1 in-game who makes and sells bows in Yew, where there are two vendors. I make about 200 gold per two days, not much but I don't mind. I do as much escorting as possible, probably earning as much as the bowyer. I always use Yew when making bows. But my archer with high dexterity and hiding skills is not very useful in PvM and I don't do PvP as I'm in my mid-70s and cant compete against youngsters. Monsters run to engage my archer, so not very useful for PvM either.
May i suggest ingame fishing on a boat? I can supply you with a boat, and another if you loose yours and tell you all about how to never risk loosing it. You can run 1 or several fishermen on one boat and make a fair bit of money all in all, infact if you run 3 (but you only watch one window, and ask for a tiny bit of help) you can have all 3 fishing on a macro and then pause it when you spawn a monster, hit 1 key to cast energy bolt on all characters and then 1 more hotkey for target nearest grey or target nearest enemy. Or just one fisherman, manually or macro fishing. Point is,its not as stressful as pvp or pvm infact its 2nd only to real life fishing in terms of relaxation. And a great opportunity to enjoy some good blues in your headphones/on your speakers! And over time you will make quite a large ammount of money really. Edit: The archer can also be a fisherman, magery is just easier and cheaper in the long run to raise and to use. And a tiny bit more effective/damaging on the seas!
