Hello all! My husband and I have finally made a decent sum and would like to start looking for a large stone keep. Everything we have is only a little over a million gold right now (we are still making more) so we can't afford an expensive location. We would prefer jungle or swamp but, again, we can't be too picky with what little gold we have.

If you have one for sale, know someone who does, or know of a spot where one could be placed, please PM me here or contact MurderSheWrote or PrisonBound (my husband) on IRC.

    Thank you, kindly.

I love it when husbands and wives play the game together in peace and unity instead of turmoil and complete hindrance of their relationship. I got into this game back in 1999 when I was 15 ish because my mother and step father started playing it. My step father was hardcore at the game and took it very seriously while my mother wasn't the greatest and it required a lot more patience to play with her. I just did my own thing basically so I wasn't part of the equation. But I cannot tell you how many fights were started because they got PK'd and she couldn't hold her own and it was yet again another occasion where she caused him to die lol. Many a fight was the result of this game, probably more so than any bonding they could have accomplished through it. Anyway, sorry for the little rant/tangent here because this really has nothing to do with your keep, but I just think it's sweet that you two play together and it looks like you're of the opposite side of the fence than my mother/S.Father were.

As far as your question goes, There is no vacant land for a keep or anything bigger than a tower basically no matter where you look - even the jungles and swamps. The only way you would be able to find one is if someone's fell during the night or what have you and you were just lucky enough to stumble upon it which never happens because IDOC's are very sought after and are quite known about long before they collapse. Keeps and higher yield a large bonus in cash and that's why you're probably going to have to keep farming a bit longer to get one even in the worst swamp locations in the game. Hopefully you find someone that would be sympathetic to your situation because you really sound like a nice woman and I'm sure your husband was the opposite of my S.Father because he was all about control, and if you're the one taking the initiative to make this post then it seems like the control is not one sided and you have some balls, for lack of a better term.

Anyway, good luck on your keep search but expect to pay at least 1.4 million for a swamp location and over 2 million for a location on grass. The population increase over the last 6 months has really raised the value of keeps/forts/castles because around this time last year you could get a keep on grass for basically deed price + 100k. Definitely not the case anymore and it's a good sign. Despite the fact you have to dig deeper into your pockets, the server is on the uprise and I don't think anyone can complain about that.

Good luck, maam, and I really hope you find what you're looking for. Take care. :)

Thank you, Taliic. We do indeed play well together and the keep was my husband's idea. He has played UO for many years but I just started and he told me that I should expect to be killed when outside of guard zones (and maybe even while inside); that is why the first thing he wanted to work on was a large house so that I could decorate it and spend time working on my characters without being killed. We have been lumberjacking, weaving cloth, and doing trades and re-trades all to buy a keep so we will continue saving until we can find one.

My husband's accounts turned 21 days old during the 3rd Anniversary so he has to wait a few more days (per Telamon, I think) before he will get the gift bags everyone else already got. I don't know much about them but he said there's a chance that it will have items that will sell for a lot, possibly even enough to buy a house. So, we're keeping our fingers crossed.

    Thank you again,

yup, If your husband does indeed get a bag or 3, pray to the UO gods that you get a mask dye or a pair of sandals. If you get that you're looking at upwards of 5m+ easy. The other stuff you'll inevitably get will yield you around 75k-200k a piece depending on what jewelry piece or clothing piece you get. Good luck though and pray for those sandals/mask dyes!

So, in one word: WOW! I received a PM from Rokk today in IRC asking me if we had found a keep yet. I explained that we hadn't and planned on continuing to save gold and look for a keep. He then says "I'm going to work some magic" and disappears for a few minutes and tells me about one be is buying and thinks we would fit well in it. I ask him how much it costs, expecting him to give an amount way beyond our current means, and he replies "So, consider it a gift..."

Even after so many "THANK YOU!"s that I'm sure he was getting tired of it, I still don't think I have thanked him enough. In just the few interactions I have had on these forums, I have met some very helpful and polite people but, Rokk . . . he takes the cake.

I am looking forward to my husband calling me a liar when I show him the keep and tell him that it is ours, courtesy of Rokk.

Thank you so much, Rokk, you don't know how much we will enjoy this!

    Sincerely,

Damn, while reading your story I was expecting you to say he was going to offer it to you at deed price or something ridiculous like that, which would still be an amazingly incredible deal, but to give it to you for free? damn. Karma is gonna hit Rokk full swing soon. I also did a few good deeds today, hooked up a few new players with full sets of armor, vanq weapons, and I even bought someone a free villa deed and also gave him 100k in addition to the armor and weapons. It feels good to help the ones who are just starting out and push them along so they don't feel so overwhelmed. Starting fresh here is rough, I want people to stick around so thats why I do the things I do. But Rokk certainly takes the cake. His bank account must be 30x larger than mine hah.
