Taking offers on both. Not an auction, just gauging interest. I'm pretty sure the Dread Pirate Hat is 1 of 20 on server and the Pirate Captain's Spyglass is 1/6. 1 of 4 of this direction. The super elite rare shovels of golem vanquishing are not for sale. Leave offers here or PM me on IRC. Accepting plat @ 7 per or accepting trades of all kinds. Rares/Resources/Clothing/Housing. IRC: [UO]Dyne HIGH OFFERS: Dread Pirate Hat - 1m Pirate Captain's Spyglass - 1m SOLD.
These both actually dropped in back to back runs. The same run that had the dread pirate hat, I also got a bone container in the final chest. Very lucky morning. haha
Thanks for your offer Faber. 1m on each is the reserve I had in my head to even consider selling them, as gold is easy to get here and 1/100 and 1/200 items are not haha (for me anyway) As of right now, that is the high offer on the spyglass.
Cool Dyne. I'm glad my offer is respectable. Whenever you decide to sell, if no other bids occur, I have the cash on hand. A note however on the hat. They're only worth around 200k-300k. I've sold many before as others have, and this is the price range for them to actually move. If you value it higher, then it might just be harder to sell. Just thought you should hear it from one amibber to another.
ya, anything less than 1m on a 1/20 item would just be worth keeping IMO. But like i said, I have an offer of 800k on it now. As the population rises on the server, so does the need for more items. When there is only 20 of an item, if 21 people want them, then you have a problem. haha Thanks for you info tho Faber. Very much appreciated.
Good luck selling the hat, Dyne. If you can get 800k that is amazing (and a bit scary). Faber's bid on the spyglass was very generous. I checked and Basoosh got one last year for 600k: http://uorforum.com/threads/for-sale-pirate-captains-spyglass.4339/ ... inflation definitely has caused prices to rise, though.
Oh snap, I didn't realize you had an offer on it already. I thought it was just your reserve. Well grats on the sale then. I love to see item values increase!
Ya, not just inflation and the fact that a tamer can easily earn 50-75k an hour without much pk threat...the good ones earn 100k+ an hour. But the fact that there was millions of gold recently traded hands from the 1%er's to the average player because of the anniversary and the scavenger hunt prizes. The way I see it tho...If i can earn 100k an hour. 300k in a 3 hour span....If i could farm either of these items in a 3 hour span, I would farm them, over and over. When you are dealing with items that have a limited amount, and no telling when the next will drop. That determines the price. I'm a rares collector myself so to me, the items are worth more than paltry amounts of gold. Which is why I didn't do this as an auction and just more of a taking offers. I actually think the spawning rares on this server are selling for way to cheap. An item that takes a week or even a month to spawn, shouldn't cost what someone can farm in an hour at elder gazers. It should take a little bit of work considering the time limit on the spawn. Thanks all for your responses though. I do appreciate all of the feedback.
I understand you to a certain extent, but prices of other rares are not all that high. If you check the amount of alchemical beakers or flasks on the server, for example, they are all fewer than 20 (if you go by individual colour) and they never sell for anywhere like what you've got for the hat. Congratulations on the sale, but I'm still puzzled by the somewhat arbitrary prices of rare objects. I still forget, too, that tamers are a class unto themselves. No-one else can afford those prices
haha, you definitely have a point but also remember, if someone can't get the yellow flask, they will "settle" for the purple or red, its still a flask. So you have to take the total number of "flasks" and not just individual color. Supply and demand will always dictate price. If 25 people want to make an alchemy lab with every flask/potion bottle and there's only 22 of each color available, then those last few guys will be paying alot or find something else to collect. I think as the population rises, so will the amount of items on the server, but also the amount of people collecting each item. The items that will never be produced again will always hold the most value. Also to take into consideration...These items can ONLY be gotten while doing an amib which costs between 60-100k each. It's not something that you can just wait to spawn and go kill 200 times. You have to pay to even get a chance(or spend days fishing) If these were normal 1/200 drop items off a boss, they wouldn't be quite as rare as one's gotten off an amib boss. (or hopefully soon to be treasure map bosses on the 7s)
Yes, good point about the cost of an amib. Anyway, congratulations Whoever gets the spyglass and hat is lucky to have such interesting objects in their collection! I wish it were possible to go visit some of the amazing collections that must be out there. I've walked past some forts and keeps and pretty much drooled at seeing what's on the roofs ... can't imagine what they must be like inside Faber's house in Yew is a great example and some of the house deco entries were had fantastic collections, but there are others I'd love to visit.
I agree. It would be neat if someone put together a collection of runebooks that went to all of the best decorated/rares displays on the server. Anyone know what time of year the best decorated house contests usually are?
Make a tamer or provo/bard. Tamer's can be a bit tedious to make, but you can almost fully afk it at bulls after 71.1 skill, just takes time. I was able to GM taming in 4 days but I put in some hefty hours. haha Start on dagger isle with a boat, put 2nd character with the tamer on the boat targetting random grey, attack last target to keep the mobs near the boat, and run your 3rd character manually and drag all the snow leopards, polar bears and walruses while your tamer afk tames all the stuff. If you need help setting up this macro, get with me on IRC. I was able to get to 71.1 and off dagger isle in 1 day. But anyway, once you are at GM taming, you just need to bond a couple dragons, train em up and head to elder gazers! pks frequent these spots but as long as you keep the dragons on all guard me and a protection spell on(anti interrupt) you can pretty much recall out 99% of the time. Even if you do get killed, you lose maybe 100 each reagent, a rune and 10-15k tops. Once you get it down and efficient, you will make between 75-100k an hour. There's a few other spots that are better to rotate between, get with me on IRC if gazers aren't working out for ya.
