When that happens mid-run in a fight, it adds a major dynamic to the battle that EVERYONE is subject to. This is entirely absent on this shard. Even 1s is enough to mix up a fight.
1) no one knows how mount fatigue actually worked back in the day 2) most folks are accustomed to 10 years of no mount fatigue at this point 3) any system that re-introduces mount fatigue is bound to get newbies frustrated and killed It seems like a feature with a pretty minor upside for vets and a pretty significant point of confusion for new players.
Dude... this is absolutely FALSE based on my experience. Imagine a tamer (or better yet, 3 of them) with 4 trained mares, on foot, throwing bolas. LOL
Right, let's make the game "perfect" based on what everyone's used to. wtf did I even login to post for. /wrists
So, lets all use speedhack and gm powers to make it a fun game. Mount fatigues, means people have to make choices about what mount they have to use, it would add a lot to the machnics of the game if done correctly. Maybe tamers will start using frenzied ostards instead of all riding on their mares. It means, the game is not about who can run longest on their fast connection but they have to start thinking about, when to run or when to fight. Don't get me wrong, in the fact that I DO like unlimited no fatigue... but, it is just wrong. If we start removing everything that is a bit of pain or work. then we will may as well just play ctf all day long. as there would be no difference or go on test server.
I remember mount fatigue. I believe that it ran out your stamina same as running continuously on foot. This would be era accurate.
I find this talk of era accuracy regarding mount fatigue amusing when in the same sentance a Razor macro is mentioned. Era accuracy would mean no dismount/feed/mount macro because no Razor. To stay firmly on topic a big fat NO to mount fatigue.
There is a big difference between not adding some overly complicated mechanic to make it a PITA to get from point A to point B in a reasonable speed with minimal hassle and using speedhacks. You mix-maxers can debate until the your hands fall off about how to add a hundred macros worth of complexity to give you a .001 advantage in PvP, but please keep this added complexity out of basic movement, which is in no way "too fast" or approaching speedhack levels.
The problem with that is while YOU may be feeding it apples by hand, a lot of people will be doing it by macro.
Add a cool down between apple feedings? Say you gotta feed two and it takes something like... two or three in vas manis or a gate cast.
Interesting idea. I think 1 in vas mani and 2 in mani yelms would be a better cooldown but regardless, you would just adjust the pause on the razor macro.
You would still be subject to it and it may or may not be in the best timing with those you are in combat with. Even if how it was handled on UOSA was lame, it still threw wrenches into fights that literally RAN on for a long time. When folks know they're going to have to stop at some point, it adds an appropriate dynamic to a game with mechanics based on reality like dexterity, stamina and fatigue in so many other places. I think a 1s delay before you can feed again would be appropriate. You can pull off a dismount and feed but one apple shouldn't replenish the beast's entire stamina pool anyway. You'd need several subsequent feedings to restore it all, I would hope. Ah right, hope. *wads up paper and tosses it for the circular file, misses and sighs*
Bolas and Mount fatigue cater to ganks. Something UO should try to get away from, as it ruins pvp for a lot of folks. I've played with them all, and that is my opinion. The only true solution is no mounts period imo.
