Page a gm and let him know whats going on. This is about the most cut and dry a case of discouraging game play that I have ever seen.

Examples of discouraging game play:

• Trapping players in locations that force them to use the help stuck system to escape

Hmm - looks like someone has trapped you pretty good. You'll likely have to drop anchor, use the "help I'm stuck" option, get another boat and dry dock yours from the other boat.

Just know that this kind of behavior truly is an outlier here on UOR.

I'm not 100% sure on boat looting, but if you're going to go AFK on your boat, make sure your boat is locked and definitely stash your key in the hold.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, rapid boat decay for boats in close proximity.

That said, this is a proper case of pirating, in one of the few ways one could see in a world where you can't jump ship. In a Felucca world, this player is now subject to the whims of his captors. He may escape and risk losing his boat but if he wants to save his ship he should find these brigands and attempt to barter for his currently seized assets.

The term "discouraging gameplay" is very open to debate and is not defined. I would argue that Chris jailing me for silly things is discouraging to my gameplay. I would argue that people calling me a fa**ot is discouraging to my gameplay. I would argue that stat loss itself is discouraging to gameplay (not mine). It's all about what side of the fence you're on when you play that card.

I don't think this is a clear case of trapping a player. Whoever the pirate is here couldn't be expected to know that he was trapping a new player with no regs/runes.

I would agree that help stuck is the only option here considering the circumstances. I would not agree if the boats were moved.

The "pirate" is essentially spending 4x the amount of gold you are in order to troll you.

I don't see a Young tag above your head. You had enough gold to buy a boat and hit the high seas. There's risk out there in the world. If I spent that kind of coin on a weapon (and I have) and brought it to a dungeon (and I have) and I got surrounded or trapped, all of it would be forfeit should my attackers so choose.

This is rightly a frustrating situation but I would be inclined to work something out with the captor, in lieu of demand intervention. While I can and have seen the need for intervention in many other functions of the game, this appears to be a last bastion of piracy in a game that has actual pirates, yet the inability to really be one effectively (you can't hijack ships without great luck).

If this is grief or not Ill leave to the GMs to decide.

The only thing this does in my mind is to force someone to make the boat decay.

I know I could have gotten off If i wanted...Could have recalled back and emptied the hold. I was logged off when this happened.

There is NO benefit to the people who did this its only a grief maneuver. There can be no hostage/ransom/etc...

On 1 hand this is UO Felucca, and ALL types of PvP should be allowed IMO.

OTOH...with the server having such a good reputation for community and being "pro" new player why would anyone want to do this even if they could?
