From what I can gather, the forums were upgraded/updated at some point in the recent past. A HUGE % of forum links to very important information do not work because they link to the previous URLs of posts/etc. Any simple way to fix this from the staff end? The compendium (for the most part) seems to be ok but basically ANY forums posts that link other info do not get to the proper place because it links to the "old" forums. Thanks
If its something from the master guide, you can just let me know. I have tried to fix those as I come across them.
I have not looked at the master guide personally, but literally every single post I read on the forums that has a link to other posts for more info is linked to the archived forums which are not available..... For example, Fast tract guide to taming from Upgreyyed: http://uorforum.com/threads/fast-track-guide-to-taming.2165/ Every single link unusable, and thats a guide/post that is linked via the compendium for people seeking information to read! Granted there is still alot of info in there but theres even more buried in these posts via their links which are not available. Admittedly, that post is 2 years old, but I only use it as 1 simple example. I find even somewhat recent posts that link to the archived forums.
We moved to forum software by XenForo a good few months ago and Chris is working through both the compendium and uorenaissance.com sites updating the layout and moving links inbetween everthing else that is happening, as you can imagine this is a mammoth task. Once Chris gets through his site/forum update list we will post a thread for users to help us clear up any outstanding bad links etc. As a reference most of the IRC !topic links are up to date
TY Samorite. Im sure it is indeed a MONUMENTAL task regarding the forum upkeep etc. There is plenty of info here, but...when you are tracking down info and the forum links are dead its frustrating. I dont know if its possible or feasible to have someone change the links in posts so that they work or make the archived forum accessible via links but there is a HUGE wealth of information in the archived forums that would be off a great benefit to everyone here on UOR both established and new players. FWIW,,,,,
