There are many players here who play multiple shards. Several that I know personally who play UOF and others. This is not really news though, or shouldn't be.

This is, without a doubt, the most professionally operated shard up right now. While donations are welcome and help the owner mitigate out of pocket expenses of operation, you can't buy anything legally in game with real world money. This keeps the shard healthy in ways that keep me believing it is truly a labor of love, not bank balances.

There are plenty of issues but almost all are entirely subjective. If you want to know the most you can about the shard, start with the patch notes forums. Go back as far as you can and you will really see the history of the shard developments, along with the feedback from the players for each patch.

I'd recommend skipping the new player program, because it's basically like baby food and you're obviously ready for prime rib. If it's any incentive, PM me and I'll drop you some startup scratch, off Occlo, if you're so inclined. Start with 50 Magery/50 Taming, then go buy tambourines with your newbie gold and hit the zoo for provo/music. That's basically easy street after that if you've been around the block before.
You'll want to build a heal/stun, scribe/stun or heal/scribe mage for general PvP. If you're in group combat, you'll want a mage template. If you'd prefer a tank mage, go fencing as it has the best chance for a killing combo, with the paralyzing blow.

If you finish that tamer, you can afford to build every other template on the other 13 character slots. Don't forget you'll want a blacksmith/tailor/carp/tinker/fletcher on every account for BoDs. Even if you don't do them, it's like having half a dozen scratcher lottery tickets every 6 hours.

Generally speaking, most templates should be just like what you'd find on UOF. Good luck out there and welcome to the best shard around.

    BY A LANDSLIDE....

No other shard is even in the same league.

and I honestly say this as someone who has played almost every free shard ever.

Everyone keeps making expressing your opinion out to be a bad thing.

I'd argue that 1 person with an opinion is far more valuable than 10 people without one. ("This is good enough for me." isn't an opinion [in the sense of the word I'm talking about]... sorry)

    I understand.. and respect that.

I just think the "Toxicity" everyone is always talking about goes both ways.

Some new player joins the shard, and everyone warns them that they are about to be bombarded by bad people... (huh??? lol...)

A free, publicly available shard, is OBVIOUSLY going to have a sampling of the world population that closely relates to the demographic split as it stands on the globe. (LOL I'm drunk and tried to make that sound way too smart) ... of course there are going to be bad eggs, and good eggs. But why must we keep "Warning" people of what they should expect? .. that is the toxicity in my eyes. Lets just keep telling people how much we all love the shard, and they should try it to... and go from there?

... I'm not sure If I'm expressing this properly. *shrug*

    Hello Saint,

Its a great server specially for the special event like halloween, tamer quest, xmass, cupidon event, lvl 7 tmaps, amibs, ...
Their is so much to do, not enough of 24 hours ;D
About PvP there is action, sad for me its during usa prime time mostly!
Anyway, i like to duel (5x) and there is no problem to find opponent :)
I played alot of shard, and clearly its the best one by far. Job done by the staff and of course Telamon, is incredible.

    See u soon!

Hi Saint. Hope you do decide to play here. I disagree with Blaise about the young program. Once in it, you don't have to stay the full 500 hours, you can give up young status any time you want. But, it is a good way to get your feet wet, gain a feel of the shard and players.

Personally I don't PVP myself, but know we have all manner of PVP. Factions, both staff generated duels and player ones. Even have a Friday Night Fights that are player run. Capture the Flag, and good ole pkers.

Why, you might ask, does someone who doesn't pvp play on a non-Trammel server? It's classic, reminds me of my early days of UO, offers so much to do besides pvp, has a wonderful player community, the staff are very approachable. Role players are welcome, have several role play based guilds., and on and on.

As others, feel free to pm me if you need anything

Welcome to our mad world :)

This is an amazing server. No pay to win and it's a lil grind at first. I recommend training a Provo/Mage and grinding more money for regs to train other characters. Take advantage of the three accounts and macro a bunch of characters. Be on the lookout for player run resist parties and stay in them the whole time, trust me it's worth it. Ask questions in irc and feel free to log into the mumble. There is pvp here but I recommend getting established and finding a group to fight with otherwise it'll never turn out well. Best of luck, pm amfekk if you need any help and if I'm around I'll be glad to help.

This shard rocks man. I've never played UO forever but I see no reason to leave this shard. Are there some things I disagree with? Yes.

That said I've been here almost a year. the staff here takes care of the real issues and this is as close to osi pretrammel I've ever played. In fact I like this shard more! There are pk's thieves tamers Mages bards etc and you honestly run in to people everywhere. Great shard unless you like trammel. I like not knowing if a pk is about show up and a battle breaks out between me and a pk and three blood elementals. Then you leave and go play CTF and have a freaking blast! Then you go to the Friday night fuels and the holiday events here are absolutely incredible. Plenty of people here to help you out too while you're getting started. A plethora of info here in these forums. Enough rambling. Just dl the client and log in.

I just started here 4 weeks ago I have loved it, it took some time to get used to the older style but best shard as far as activity goes. I came back to uo to play on uo revealed but it never took off like 20 people on the shard, here there are close to 650-700 active clients.

    #1 reason to UOR:

There is no donation shop. There is no reward for donating money to the shard, other than an orange name on the forums. The staff runs the server simply because they are gluttons for punishment.

I started here 3 weeks ago and i'm having a great time, but don't take it from me.

The #1 thing I can say is that this server speaks for itself, and what i mean by that is that people are overwhelmingly positive, to such a degree that I've never heard that anywhere in UO before, even OSI.

I've played Hybrid, DFI/revived, IPY, gamers, OSI and more, and never have I seen such a positive atmosphere. If that doesn't encourage you to log in and check it out, I don't know what will.

    Welcome! :)

Most of the "discussion" occurs in the forums. In game, I rarely see heated arguments.
