I'd say at the very least, make the armor function exactly like ringmail / nose helm / studded in regards to AR, dex loss, and weight.

I'd also say that it should be blessed, except we have fortification powder here, which means you could bump it to 255/255 and essentially have unbreakable phoenix armor, which is not how it was in era. Otherwise, I'd be on board with it getting blessed.

But we have fortification powder here, which was not how it was in era. It sounds like your issue is more with that.

Not exactly but maybe (it's complicated?)

Phoenix armor was blessed in era, but it was also very brittle and was easy enough to break so it wasn't used in combat much. We have the opposite going on here. Phoenix armor is newbied, not blessed, but can easily be super durable, not easy to break, and therefore could be used in combat.

So saying it should be blessed like it was in era should also mean it can't be fortified, so it remains blessed and in the same/similar fashion as it was used in era.

I'm up in the air with this the RP effect sounds nice but in the hole mythology of the name the wearer should have some ability to have a free rez when killed with it?

as far as the AR of the armor I think it should be exceptional if not better but take the blessed away if that is indeed what it is. I think having a free rez after say 24 hours each use and better AR with it not being blessed is best if not only option if things where to change.

    cheers,

Can't be overpowered, even though its expensive.

Give it little better than barbed stats, and you can med with it. Done!

I think that as a blacksmith BoD reward that is a wearable and usable weapon or armor, like Runic Smithy hammers, it could stand to reason that it could have "some" benefit out in the field.
It wasnt meant to be something game breaking crazy back in the day and while wearable, was useless and treated as a deco/status rare. It could stay this way, but there are the hanging armor rewards, the sword and shield rewards, and the full standing suit rewards from BoDs that are NOT wearable and ARE fully deco items. I dont see anything wrong with giving it a bit of a boost in power other than starting down the road of the "crazy custom niche shard."
Runic weapons BoD rewards (particularly Verite and Valorite) are just crazy powerful. Im just saying that it wouldnt really surprise me, or feel out of place, if Phoenix Armor was a tad more useful.

I never knew it could be repaired in era (I was not remotely close to ever owning any myself!)

If you give it better than barbed stats and make it med-able, it becomes moderately powerful.

It's ringmail... I'm not a fan of giving the ubber rich another boost with items to dominate with... yes they did a lot of BODs to get the armor or obtaining a set through other means. At best it should be equal to say fortification ringmail... so we don't have orange dexers running around or even worse mages wearing this if it allowed meditation. Newbied item is good enough with option to bless and fort. It's color is special enough it doesn't need to rez or have another property. I see enough exotic colors and items for a UOR era shard already (I'm half stuck in SA era).

A light effect would be cool and totally unnoticed by those who have night effects off.

I'd like an increase in AR similar to valorite exceptional chainmail or something like fort magics. But it shouldnt exceed available armor in it's properties, which would be the case with med + higher AR.

That way the armor would be actually usable and not just stupid bank sitting deco, while the newb-property and color comes for a hefty price of 3mil and more.

With the same AR properties like other chainmail, I highly doubt that you will see groups of orange dexxers. Damn, you can hardly see any dexxers at all...

Ummmm... this post is super contradictory.

If it was stronger than barbed, meddable, and newbied; it'd be overpowered.

That is what he is saying, albeit poorly.
Here is my mikek translation: We shouldn't make pheonix armor overpowered, even though its expensive. Even just giving it little better than barbed stats and making it meddable and DONE, its already overpowered.

Take away the dex penalties like normal ringmail, then give its ar value that equal to exp valorite +3...still would be less then most fort/invuln suits of this style.

ok ok, so if a suit costs like 5 mil. A few AR more than barbed, that's overpowered? like 3-5 AR, so people can use it. What's the big deal.
