I've been getting these little hiccups also. No connection loss ever. Just like a momentary stop, almost like a server save.
Yea, after playing last night for some time I realized I too am getting that sort of "server save" type lag quite frequently. Also someone mentioned that they are getting connection lost messages. I get those every few days. I doubt it is my connection (maybe ISP is dropping connection on their end) Just throwing in my two cents! I don't pay extra for 75down and 35 up for nothing! lol! Who knows, but I make the best of it! It brings back the nostalgia of playing in 1997 on 56k dialup!
Not sure going to post a vid here today in a short while and see what you guys think. Do you think the black triangle could be a function of some discrepancy between game window size/resolution and razor force window size? I thought it could be too and played around with settings but couldnt figure anything out. Desktop - 24" 1920x1080 and I play at 1920x1080 with the main UO window maximized, in game option game play window size 800x600, razor force resolution 1200x800. Ive tried playing also at 1600x900 and I think 1440x900 (?) just to see what I like better and I keep it 1920x1080. I havnt seen any difference personally with regards to difference in frequency in the "black triangle" situation. Win 7 x64 Laptop - 15.6" 1920x1080 main window maximized. Also play 1600x900 on this computer bc the screen is so small. Again I dont notice a difference when I do so. Razor force resolution 1080x760 (no reason just what looks good to me for size/clarity/lack of peripheral artifacts/etc). Win 8. Video will be on desktop. Should be soon. EDIT: Not really seeing much if any of black triangle at the moment on my desktop.....I WILL post a video but will wait till I see it enough to give a good representation.
If you aren't seeing it currently and you have the same resolution you had previously, it's probably not a resolution issue, and probably does have to do with some sort of lag.
I have just now noticed that when I freeze for some seconds, I still see monsters walking around (and attacking and killing me ) and I even get guild chat messages. But my character is frozen and can not move or say anything. Today these freezes lasted for around 15 seconds... Which is a long time in a dungeon.
Check to see if you've got 'Reduce CPU usage' checked in Razor. That's exactly what it used to do to me.
Hello Vlar! Thank you for your answer. If you mean the "Use smart CPU usage reduction" option, that one is off. Is there another one I am missing?
Dang. Unfortunately no. Hrmph. Have you tried using WTFast? It helped me while I had come connection issues last year. https://www.wtfast.com/ Tutorial for WTFast and UOR:
That is more than likely a local network issue. How often do you experience this? Also what is your geographical location?
Thanks for the link. I'll give it a try. My location is Munich, Germany. The freezes happened about every half an hour or so today. But isn't it strange that those freezes are new? This did not happen some weeks ago.
FWIW im continuing to have issues. Especially the "server freeze" described many times in this thread. Happens to me constantly....like...CONSTANTLY...
@Vlar: Okay, now I feel stupid. I had the option on with another character I had running in the background on another client. I just noticed. No idea how that box got ticked. After I unticked it, I stopped having those freezes. Thank you very much for pointing me in that direction!
