I think im in a little bit of a pickle with my LP skill.

When I hit 95 shown I was only at 94.9 real. I had dex locked at 10 so now sure how that happened?

Ive done some dungeon chests and now at....95.6 shown 95.5 real (give or take im not on that character currently).

Eventually this is going to be 100/99.9 right? How am I going to "fix" it so that I am 100 shown / 100 real?

Can I raise detect hidden to get me "artificially" to 100 in the meantime while Im grinding?

I was told there is a magic trapped chest in the Cove Fortress Rune Library that can raise DH for me quickly? I cant find it.....if its the chest by the LP runebooks Im doing something wrong because my systen message says I find nothing interesting and my DH skill doesnt raise. I think im at like 39 DH skill (give or take).

    Thanks!

Eventually shown skill and real skill will have the same value. 100 shown will be 100 real.

Ok, but can I do anything with detect hidden with real lagging 0.1 behind shown skill to hit the "artificial" 100 LP in order to unlock chests that require that?

Or am I screwed until I grind 100 real LP on L4 chests now?

95 LP + 100 DH opens any chest - eventually - as far as I know.

The cove training room isn't one chest, but rather a giant pile of trapped containers. Read the books that are locked down and you'll find it. (Train DH at the thief gm first.)

My LP was at 94.9 real also after raising it while keeping dex at 10. A couple trips through the LP runebook at the KoS rune library got it up to about 95.5 now too. Shouldn't take too long to GM it doing that actually. I don't have DH on my LP char since LP was raising fairly easily. It will even out at the end too and be 100/100. DH will artificially raise it and allow you to attempt chests that require 100 LP even when you are 95ish. From what I understand you'll fail a lot still but just keep going until you succeed.

As for detect hidden, if I remember right you wont be able to see traps until you have at least 50 DH. You can use DH at the Occlo bank on yourself until 50, then run to the Brit Warrior's Guild back room (It's north of the stables) and use DH on the boxes there for a few hours until GM.

Once you are 50 you can also get a hold of me on IRC (I'm jp) or here and I'll let you in a house that has 51 trapped boxes in it. You'll GM detect hidden from 50 pretty quick off those. I decided against going the DH route on my treasure hunter though since I needed that skill slot for something else. Raising LP off dungeon chests doesn't seem too bad so far.

What if I am at 95.5 real / 95.6 shown LP, and 100DH.

Will I still be at the "artificial" 100LP? Or do I need to be exactly at 95.0 shown and its like other shards skill scrolls that if you are at 99.1 and use a +1.0 skill scroll with cap of 100.0 it wont use the scroll since it will put you over cap?

Like that, or will it just add the extra 5.0 real LP skill and cap it at 100 even if im at 99.9 real with the 100 DH?

It will cap at the "artificial" 100 lockpicking.

According to Chris once in IRC, the DH skill just enables you to try lvl4 chests, it does not increase your real or shown skill. Also not behind in the game mechanics. This means, once you are able to pick lvl4s, you can start dropping DH, because you wont have any benefit in percentual success rates.

And your shown and real will become the same value

Yes, it adds to your "ability to try" to open the lock, but not your ability to actually unlock it. IIRC, you will need some detect hidden all the way to GM, if you want to mix in level 5 or 6 treasure maps. But just for gaining skill off of level 4 dungeon chests, yes you can drop it down.

It's on the second floor, you can't miss it if you go up there. It's a pile of 50 boxes or so, and if you target the one different one, you'll get 50 skill uses every time you do it. It should be obvious which one in the pile (I think it's a wooden chest on top of 49 crates), but there's a book locked down there too which should also tell you.

I should put a note by that chest you referred to, I think it's Secured and thus not pick-able.
