Hello, I just finished my new player in UOR. Last time i played ultima was at least 10 years ago. My question is simple... I created my toon with the following skill: Peacemaker Provocation Musichaship Magery Eval Int Healing Meditation What now? I tried to go to britain, trinsic, magincia but i do not found anyone, some people are in Occlo but they are almost all the times macroing for finish the toon. Can you suggest the next step to enter to the UOR community? Thanks! Rocco P.
Welcome. Your best bet is to get out there and play UO. Don't hang out at the banks with all the AFK players. Go farm monsters and you're sure to meet some people soon enough. IRC is the devil and is part of the reason the game feels so empty. Everyone's hanging out in their house while talking in IRC instead of hanging out in game and talking in game.
Welcome to UOR! Im fairly new as well and can give you some advice and my experiences.... 1.. Definitely get into IRC. IRC will be an invaluable tool for you to contact other players to find people to play with/against as well as a resource to help you with any problems. There are ALOT of helpful people around and IRC is a great way to get in touch with them. 2. If you are looking for activity (either PvP or PvE) theres usually more than enough u just need to know where to look. Id suggest if you are new go to the small marble workshop just south of Occlo bank. On the steps is are runebooks. One of them is called "Popular Farming Spots". If you frequent the Artic Ogre Lords, Blood Elementals, or Elder Gazers you will find people. Some will be friendly and you can make new friends/forge alliances. Some will be aggro and you will get some PvP. Either way...its what you are looking for Welcome to the best UO shard out there. If you enjoy UO you will love it here.
Not a community answer, as that's not my forte, but just regarding skills, a few suggestions... 1) Healing is not very good without Anatomy. You will be very limited to the damage you can heal (50-75% effective or so), and you will never cure. 2) Peacemaking and Provocation aren't that great together. Provocation is probably far more useful for this type of character. So I'd suggest dropping Healing and Peacemaking for some more useful things (Wrestling and Resist?). Or dropping Peacemaking and replacing it with Anatomy, to make your bandages fully effective (and will also help you avoid being hit in combat as (EvalInt+Anatomy)/2 = Wrestling, in terms of calculations to see if stuff swings and hits you or not.
Hey there, welcome aboard! A few suggestions for you: there are many rune libraries across the world, find one and explore places that seem unfamiliar to you, and check out some of the player-run cities. Stormhold, Paws, and Wispfelt to name a few. Hopefully that will provide some interaction in-game. I totally agree with Pork about immersing yourself in the game versus hanging out in IRC. It's a much more organic way to play. I like having to be on the same screen to interact with people (or guild chat, of course!) Dalavar beat me to it as far as your skill selection. Both of his suggestions are great and viable setups, but it really depends on your preferences and playstyle. Again, welcome, and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your stay on this wonderful shard! If you run across a tamer named Beregond, stop and say hello!
I'm reluctant to say this, but I have to agree with Pork Fried Rice. Although IRC is a great way to get in touch with UORians, it also keeps a lot of people out of the world. I remember back in the day people would sit at banks all day, trading and chatting, and the smith/tailor shops would be occupied by player crafters. T'was a great time indeed!
Personally I CANNOT STAND in game chat. The font is weird (as are all font choices), the text is small and making it bigger messes up other system/other messages. It either lasts too long before it disappears or not long enough. IRC is a simple solution to that. When Im in game im paying attention to other things NOT chat. If Im chatting with someone in game I switch to chatting with them in IRC because I hate in game chat so much! FWIW.....
First things first, your build sucks. Healing with no anat is terrible. And Provo combined with Peace is unnecessary. I suggest dropping them both for resist/wrestling so you can escape reds and hold your own if you need to fight back. From there.. do whatever you want, find a guild, etc
I don't use IRC, but have you tried joining a guild? You can find characters who are in the guilds you are interested in by browsing the threads under Guilds and then contacting players by using conversations for one-to-one communications.
Do the wrestling skill give some kind of dodge? If not way is enecessary for survivability? On compendium i do not found any information related defensive feature of wrestling.
