Just curious about using a crate or red box, is it better to use a key in the bank or the magic lock spell? Been meaning to set these and some more elaborate loot macros/hotkeys hut I'm always distracted with another project or something else lol.
I could explain it to you in detail, or give you the links with more infos, but it's in general usage of a bug (you should have no access to your chest/box after it is locked, its a plain bug). That's why I don't want to provide the links, but I bet someone is willing to do so or you can ask Lightshade. PS: Both of your ideas would work.
Here is a simple trick that will give you time to move away most of the times. Buy a pouch, drop it in your backpack, open it, cast magic trap on it and use it for restock, scavenger, disarm container. If a thief want to get to your stuff they have to trigger the trap.
You won't be able to access anything but regs, maybe bandages, that you leave in the locked box. You'll have to keep your potions, scrolls, runebooks, etc, out of the box. Typically I leave my regs in there and throw anything like plat or statues from events in there to prevent them from being stolen, I do not believe this is a bug, a thief might.
It makes no sense to access a locked box. Do a reality check plz. The proper way would be the auto-closing of the locked container and that you would have to unlock it for access. Just some lines more in your macro and 1-2 secs for a thief to steal something.
This work, but if i was to open that empty bag on top, I would know its a decoy and just drag till i find the right one
In my case, depends on whether you are moving or not. I can tell that Random would be able to, no matter what movement.
If it contain a nice pile of platinum ? I will dig through any number of bags until i put my 5Digits on it ^.^
Yes, your motivation is clear. The bag on top is not empty... none of the bags are empty. How would you drag and open 5+ stacked containers? Edit: Ohhh... OHHHH. Okay.
Heres what I do...its not perfect, but its pretty damn good IMO. Spellbooks + the small pouch. Get a bunch of spellbooks...blank cheap ones for 18g from any magic vendor. Put all your goodies in a small pouch. This will be your main bag that you use for anything that isnt blessed. Stack spellbooks on top of this pouch so it cant be seen. Use several "stacks" of spellbooks to fool theives as well. Some stacks of spellbooks have nothing under them, but 1 pile has your pouch that has everything in it. I typically keep 5 or so stacks of spellbooks that are 3-4 maybe 5 spellbooks deep, with only 1 that has the pouch and I cycle its location its never in the same place in my bag. Can I get stolen from? Yup! But it would take a thief ALOT of trial and error as well as dragging of numerous spellbooks on the ONE right pile to get to my main bag, and then sift through all that to see if anything is worthwhile. FWIW...
Honestly, I saw that setup of yours several times. It was never difficult to get that pouch open. And I did it manually without any of the other tricks. Just found nothing to steal. But you are right, your everyday Ocllo griefer/thief wont be able to find it (fast).
To bring it all home (and to utterly cosign what BlackEye just said ^), methinks that these "basic" precautionary methods are just that... "basic". They'll preoccupy the (see: too many) amateur bank thieves. The good thieves, well... you never really notice them anyway Anyway, it gave me a reason to use that Tiny Tim song. This thread +1
