Tonight there will be a special event to celebrate the completion of the Dark Magic event. Players should keep an eye on the town criers and chatroom for more information on the event around 11pm est. Notes: Tonight is the last night for players to hunt holiday creatures in the wild. After tonight ridable polar bears will return to their normal docile state. You may continue to ride any bear you are currently on, however once you dismount the bear returns to normal. Players may continue to use Christmas scrolls and earn Ironman achievements however the leaderboard will close at midnight. (For the reward ceremony consideration) A special event achievements post will be posted tomorrow with rewards for standout achievements. The Christmas store will remain open for players to purchase items.
Sucks I missed it like a lot of others... wish there had been more of a heads up to the event. Just sayin.
This announcement is already a big improvement. As staff is doing everything voluntarily beside their RL families and jobs, I doubt it can be announced much earlier.

Damn commander spawned those rangers who immediately turned me into a pincushion as you can see at the bottom of Mes' screenshot Fun ending to Xmas. Even with my packet loss issues lately (f'n rural telco ISP...) still had a blast killing stuff in Brit & getting a few event statues!
this is what happens when i triple box... i get killed on two characters by SL while on other screens. luckily, i'd just banked. this event was great fun. the pvp was a welcome wild card. thanks for all the screenshots.
