Renaissance currently is migrating to a new IRCserver.

Our new irc server offers much more improved features versus the former.

You can easily connect to our new irc server using our web based irc client by clicking here. Renaissance Web based IRC

    Step 1.
    • Download a IRC Client. For the purpose of this guide I will be using MIRC. You can download it from CNET here
Install the program using the default settings.

    Step 2.
    • Using the MIRC Menu select File -> Select Server.
    • You will see a list of default servers. Lets add our own. Click the Add button on the right.
    • Enter in the following information to create a connection to the WildIRC Server.
      Description: Can Be Anything
      IRC Server: irc.chat4all.org
      Ports: 6667
      [IMG]
    • You can also configure MIRC to auto authenticate you and join your favorite channels
      IRC1.png

    Step 3.
    • Now that the server is created double click on it in the list. This will take you to the connect window. Select your preferred nickname and click the connect button.
Note: Once you have configured MIRC you can simple connect by clicking the lightning icon in the upper right.

    Step 4.
    • Once you successfully establish a connection to the server you will be presented with a chanel list. Enter Renaissance into the box. Click Join and your ready to go.

Note: This will authenticate the current nickname you are using.
      -
    • To Register a channel for your guild or private use
/msg chanserv register #chatroom password description
Example:/msg chanserv register #roomname yourpassword channeldescription
Note: You must have already opened the channel using the /join #channelname command, and must have operator status.
      -
    • To change your nickname
      /nick <New Nickname>
      Example: /nick Chris_AFK
      -
    • To Join a Channel, or create a channel if the one you enter doesn't exist

I have my nick registered with chat4all and have my pw setup. When I log in it shows me in a joint channel with #uortrade and #uor when I click uortrade it opens the new channel and looks normal but when I click on uor it doesnt do anything. Ive even tried clicking channels and join channel uor but nothing. I can chat in uortrade no problems.

Which program are you using to connect? Mirc, Light IRC (web chat) or other?

And we are still learning all the tricks with the Chat4All user registration system, however they are very helpful if you have questions in #help.

I just click on the web based IRC link on the forum site or main webpage, I will check out the help channel and will post if they know anything. I just logged in and it only shows #uor like it should instead of showing me in two channels. not sure what changed but works fine now.

Is there any free IRC client you can recommend ?

I'd rather donate 20$ here than spend it on chat software ...

Apparently some of the newer versions of mIRC will not allow you to keep using it beyond the extended trial period. All these version look like they were built in 1990, but the latest ones want to to pay for this antique. You can pick up an older version from here (6.2 I know works):
    http://www.oldversion.com/windows/mirc/

As for other software, Icechat is a close 2nd to mIRC (plus it has a pleasant dark theme):
    http://www.icechat.net/site/

And if you don't want to install any software, but want more features, try Mibbit. It runs in your browser, but has many of the features of a stand-alone program such as logging and registration:
    http://chat.mibbit.com/?server=irc.chat ... nel=%23uor

    Cool guys, thanks alot !!!

There should be an app store for windows where you can purchase mIRC for 5$

But going through the hassle of online payment to pay 20$ for ancient software doesn't work for me.

If you are having connection issues try connecting to the ip 178.63.3.16 instead of eu.chatt4all.org

Web chat off main UO Ren web-site worked perfectly until about 3 days ago. Same error on all three of my systems regardless of browser used. Any ideas? [12:03:14] Flash policy problem. If you are the server owner, please read http://redmine.lightirc.com/projects/lightirc/wiki/Flash_Policy_setup_instructions. You need to install a flash policy daemon at irc.chat4all.org (port 843)

The error message sounds server side, but I assume the forums would be blazing if it was. Probably me, but I can't find a fix and I'd prefer not to install a client. Unless I have to...

    Thanks!

or you can use mibbit if you don't want to install anything.

If you bookmark and register for an account, you can add the UO:R's info the your setting and mibbit will auto connect each time you use it.

Mirc will let you in for free but you have to wait through a 30 second delay at startup.

    If port 6667 doesn't work try 6668.
