Hello everybody! I just started on UO:R (and UO period) the other day. I was promptly taught how to talk by one of the counselors (twyla I think? - thank you so much for all the advice!). I've never played UO but I spent a lot of time on Ultimas 3-6 as a kid, so saying things other than NAME JOB BYE is new I've also made a ton of other dumb mistakes in the past 48 hours, like spending all my money on a pack llama without knowing that he'd be gone after I logged out, or trying to drag/drop my new player gold for what felt like 5 straight minutes before I understood what was happening... Despite all that I'm still having a great time. My main is lumberjacking it up right now so if you see a trail of crates from the outskirts of Occlo, that's me working off my excess boards until I can get another llama I'm way more interested in the crafting/player vendor side of things than PVP right now so I spend a lot of time in the woods, but if you see me say hi! I live in Japan so I was afraid I wouldn't see many people when I'm on - so far I've been pleasantly surprised! um anyway I'm gonna go back to choppin' now but I hope I can meet some of you soon! Caska
Welcome aboard, newb. This is a great shard. Read the guides and visit the forums often. You'll get up to speed in no time. See you around!
Welcome aboard!!! I'm a huge fan of the original series myself.... Played them all. Still do actually from time to time. I remember memorizing the Runic alphabet for Ultima V so I could read the in game signs without having to reference the manual.
Hi. Back in the day, when I was new to the game, I'd walk into trees. Serious, think you shall enjoy it here, our staff is fantastic and we have a outstanding player community
Whoa, thanks for the warm welcome! Update: broke my first axe. Decided on a horse this time so going all the way back to town won't be such a trudge. But I can get oak logs in maybe 2 more points so feelin good! I loved that game and Martian Dreams as a kid. So much to do! Sometimes I didn't even leave the castle.. Same here, that's basically what inspired me to look for a freeshard this week, I was goofing around with the ovens in Black Gate and put 2 and 2 together Never memorized the runes, but i remember people back then memorizing whole nanuals just to speed up copy protection quizzes so i can't blame you at all
Hey hey there Caska. Welcome to UOR, the best shard and era there is. Hands down. Lots of people here to help you along. If you wanna figure it all out thats always kinda fun for new UO players, but can be really tough. If you feel like talking with the community in real time, jump onto our IRC channel (text based chat). You can find out how to do that on the UOR main page. If you are looking for some help with gear, advice, macros and anything else really, aside from the main community, you are welcome to come into #PS (IRC channel) and we will help you along with anything you request. Great to have brand new players with us! ~Krake
Hello Caska, unfortunately i havent seen Guts around anywhere. Make sure to use the Light Levels option in Razor, so it wont get night in your game which could be turn out quite bad for you. Unfortunately the Band of the Hawk isnt around either to take you in. If you are looking for a new player Guild i would advice you to check out P´S or KoS, they will help you a lot on your first steps. Welcome to the shard! Feel free to message me (Eliore on IRC, or PM on the forums) for some pvp practice, once youve set up your characters. Sidenote: Forming the band of the Hawk as a mercenairy guild was always a thing that interested me. Glad to see more Berserk fans here.. so that might get real one day
Hi! Thank you so much, I might just pop in sometime! God knows I have a lot to learn! Are there a lot of insomniacs on IRC? Sometimes being 13 hours ahead of EST can get lonely.. Hello Erza! Great to meet another Berserk fan. I DID see Griffith wandering around north of Occlo, freaked me out for a second before I realized it was an NPC. I named my horse Guts. The idea of a Band of the Hawk guild sounds like a perfect fit - pre-Eclipse only though please!! Anyway thank you so much for the advice/offer. Razor seems really helpful but there's a lot to sift through - the light levels thing is blowing my mind! -Caska, going back to choppin' away (62.5 and counting...)
The Light Levels option was actually just another hidden reference mixed with a practical tip. I dont like the neo Band of the Hawk either, pre eclipse is the only way to go
