Karma loss is somewhat of a concern for me, if it gets too low you can't buy from shops, on a few servers there was a command called "I must consider my reputation" which would let me view my karma and fame, don't think it's here.
Sock it to ya Ogre Mage. It started working when he started attacking the blade spirits instead of the demon, once I had 3 out I was able to bring him down enough.
Three Ogre Mage kills tonight. Though the demon method doesn't work too well. He dispels even those pretty fast, best bet is to run in there and invis myself, paralyze him, then get the Ogre Lords on him, they can't be dispelled, and I summon BS's while they're hitting him. He may kill like 4 or more Ogre lords in the process though.
Fame and karma are updated in your toons profile every few hours: http://www.uorenaissance.com/player/203498 Orge mage is a boss, dropping a large coin stack, plat, chance at pec meat. Killing him should be a challenge, and even a tamer with two dragons needs to be actively healing and paying attention to take him down. I want to assume the original thought was that people would have to team together to take on such a monster. Glad you found what works for you to take him down solo.
Also, there was a command I could use on another shard I played on "I must consider my reputation" which showed it in game. I guess it was post Ren.
Thats a good method to do it I usually get the bar of the 2 lords and the mage, run in, provoke.. run out.. Then try from a different direction if theyr formation changes. works with a GM instrument (needs a ton of trys) but a slayer instrument is useful for sure
Um, isn't the problem with running out is if you are invisible/hidden out of sight (of the two creatures provoked) it will break the provoke after, something like 10-13 seconds? As far as just plain Ogre Lords, I use non-gm/non-slayers instruments they work well enough, so I don't need gm ones, seems like a waste of money for them at least.
Provo doesnt break when invis/hidden. It even doesn't break when you are off screen, once you pass the provo-on-screen-check that is done. I believe the check is not repeated and only happens once after 10 or 15 sec (somebody enthusiastic should check that out).
Provo breaks on distance. If you run too far away, the monsters will stop fighting each other after some time. I'm not 100% sure on the distance (20 tiles, perhaps?) or the time (maybe 60 seconds?)
I think only one on-screen test is done, then it doesnt break anymore. It's definitely the max range off the screen (before the screen goes over to being grey).
It definitely breaks based on distance, but there's also a time component to it. Many times I've killed OLs, provoked the next two and banked my loot. Sometimes I'll come back and they're still fighting. Other times I'll come back and they're back to being friends, albeit with less life than when I left.
Ideally, what I want to do is go in there, invis, paralyze the mage, run around a big with the 2 lords in tow, disc one, invis again, paralyze lord, disc the other lord, invis one more time, paralyze, now I can provoke a lord onto the mage, not gonna disc the mage until he's fighting them, he's the hardest to disc, but I'll have plenty of time for attempts while he's tied up with the lords.
