IRC is a common and easily moderated tool helpful to the players and staff of UO servers. Unlike voice services (which most players use at their own leisure) we can moderate, log and employ bots to help keep order as we are volunteers.

That said almost every play, who plays games these days, will find a way to communicate with their friends on whatever medium they prefer. OUr providing a moderated community for our players has not effect on "Someone asking for reinforcements". Not to mention the most comment method a player might employ which the game has provided since day 1. (Guild Chat)

I feel this statement is targeted at someone specific? This is a felucca server, if someone killed you, stole from you, etc then don't get mad, get even. That is the beauty of a Felucca server.

Macros/Macroing have always been a part of Ultima Online, from the days of jamming a penny into your keyboard, using UO Extreme to see someones health above their head or UO Assist back in 1997 to remove some of the tedium to developing a character. Razor is not much different than UO Assist and provides players with a positive experience for a classic game.

I think you are trying to compare UO to another game. Historically players had as many characters/accounts as they paid $10 a month for. On a server with a 700 skill limit and 54 skills to choose from players are allowed 3 accounts, allowing for 15 different character designs. This is how it has been since free shards became a thing and players have come to expect it from classic servers.

(When I played UO back in 1999 I had 15 accounts, as I bought and sold houses. OSI was fine with it because I paid for them. Here players are all on the same footing.)[/i/

Another sign you have not played here much. 15 minutes of ingame time and you will find plenty of players. Players are allowed to choose where they start, or selecting to head to the new player program in Ocllo. As a Felucca server, with risks to sitting around doing nothing most players would opt for the safety of their house rather than sitting in town vulnerable. At any given time there are 100-125 players on Ocllo or in the new player dungeons.

This is clearly a trolling attempt, I cannot think of a single game that does not provide players with a map.

The most common "modified" clients are players who choose to remove the trees from the world, or a mod that allows for smaller dragons. Again literally every game in existence allows you to mod the client from the simple to the complex. To expect the staff of a volunteer free server, to monitor what you do to programs installed on your personal computer is a bit of a stretch.

We welcome our players creativity in making their UO experience enjoyable, we do not punish them for it.

I think again with some experience with UO servers you would realize that the economy here is better than anywhere else. Without the staff selling items, or an economy based on donation coins players create their own economy here. New players starting today have just as much chance to obtain desirable items as players who started 3 years ago. Some players are dedicated and work hard for their bank balance and possessions. No player should ever be punished for hard work.

Good luck with your future video game ventures, however I suspect UO might not be the game for you. Our players love it here and they get a chance to re-live the best time period of Ultima online. Giving some players a 2nd chance or even a first chance to see how awesome this game is.

    Wow.

I used to play in the "glory days" of the OSI Ultima.... 1998-2003 on Chesapeake, and I gotta say that Chris and the rest of the staff here have done an absolutely PHENOMENAL job of recreating that environment and building off it. I love the environment, the activities, the quests, the events, the game play..... all of it.

I do want to find a solid, stable rp community, but those have always been difficult to come by in UO..... they come and go, rise and fall.... But that's all player driven (as it should be).

That guy just seemed bitter and jealous. People like that always want to bitch and moan about someone else having a bigger piece of pie than they do...... meanwhile I'm over here firing up my oven and getting ready to bake my own pie..... metaphorically speaking, of course.

    Great. Now I want pie....
