"B/I keep it reasonable"... ...C'mon now... just list a f**king increment. Have you really gotten that lazy? Or does this provide the seller a sense of empowerment to tell people how to conduct themselves? *facepalm*
Seems pretty sensible to me. ie: no 1gp bids, no 100gp bids (unless it's some chump-change item). It's just a nice way of saying "Don't be a piece of shit in this auction, please."
A BI shouldn't have to be specified. Two or more players dicking around raising a 500k item by 1k right before a predetermined 24/48 hour timer can take that bid and that trade forum behaviour and shove it... somewhere painful.
Also worth considering the fact that pretty much no one pays any attention to the recommended bid increments to begin with. I mean, even when I specify B/I of 10 or 50k or something like that, no one does it. They'll jump the bid by 100k or 500k, or in some cases a mil. at the time. I have found the bidders more often than not set the tone, speed, and increment for the auction based on the desirability of the item offered. Bid increments are usually more of a loose suggestion than a hard rule anyway, so what's the big deal?
Jumping increments or using multiples/bids greater than the increment is not the purpose of having a bid increment specified. That is pretty much exclusively used to deter shit-bids like 1gp over the last bid, as mentioned earlier.
I'm picturing the old Saturday Night Live "Jeopardy" skits where the final question is "Write a number... any number... it can be any number at all. It can be four. Or five." and none of them can do it.
Funniest. Thing. Ever. Alex: "What sound does a dog make?" **No one answers** Alex: "You could have said 'bark,' 'woof,' or 'ruff.' Connery: "Rough! Just the way your mother likes it, Trebek!. " I could watch that stuff a thousand times....still funny. Those were undoubtedly the best thing SNL ever put out in my opinion
Exactly. Clarity. The term 'reasonable' is too subjective. Why muddy the water when you know there are morons out there with access to the Internet?
Funny.... I thought it was the "increment" in which you wanted people to "bid" on your auction.... Must be something I'm missing here.... Sarcasm is better in person.
Ya... Bid increments aren't meant to set the only increment you can bid at. (That'd be ridiculous)... just the minimum.
Yeah, it's really just a misnomer when people say BI, because the actual intention is minimum bid increment, not just bid increment. I typically spell it all out as clear as day because I don't need any bullshit on my sales. lol
I'm now tempted to go BS all over your sales. I don't want to incur the wrath of Blaise, though. I doubt my wand and lantern would be enough defense against that.
