It was an unfair comparison and I only intended as hyperbole - perhaps I should have said that. I don't actually think that hoarding for CUB is as bad as causing a DDOS. However I still don't think someone should be rewarded for hoarding useless items in hopes that one day the staff will pay for them to be destroyed to improve server performance. I've said this several times and I guess we just don't agree. The only new issue I have with your post is on the value of the items - I think the items you are hoarding have so little value that they aren't worth your time to attempt to sell. I think you have already made this statement in this thread. Many of the items you are hoarding can't be sold to vendors and have no demand from players. Even the worst of misers understands that there is some amount of time invested in picking up an item and transporting and selling it. These items have no worth that CUB hasn't given them. If housing required upkeep you would have allowed them to decay long ago. Garbage from MIBs has cost you some fair investment of time to sort and transport and store. You could never have recouped that by selling those junk items to players. The only value thousands of paintings have is in what CUB has promised - something I strongly disagree with.
We do disagree, and I'm ok with that. I will also say that you make good points. Paintings are worthless outside of CUB, those cannot be sold to vendors. It's my argument that those types of items should be either removed or greatly reduced. Until that happens my macros are pretty simple. They extract and sort for themselves. All I have to do, and it's very little time generated on my part, is gate hop full bags to my CUB house. 90% of the bags in that CUB house hold items that are valuable. I used to actually sell each bag of 125 weapons/armor pieces. A full bag could be anywhere from 15-25k+ and it would take me a few minutes to sell. At this point it's not that I'm less inclined to sell bags because it's beneath me or not worth my time (it's really just a set of macros) but I'd rather hold off until this system comes to fruition before I decide what to do. I'm going to be rewarded one way or another with these bags. Whether I get that dog fart from CUB or decide it's more beneficial to vendor them, these bags are going to be converted to my own benefit and not trashed. Probably 80 bags of MIB stuff in there that while worthless to sell to vendors I've been able to give specific items away to friends for free. Even though I don't receive a pecuniary gain from these MIB bags, they still hold some sort of value for friends that want 100 bones, etc.
I don't think so. You're quite downplaying the time invested in sorting, storing, and collecting junk items. Even if you want me to believe you handle every aspect of it via automation you've had to invest time in creating macros and dealing with weight limits and the resource and time cost of transportation. I hope this concept isn't lost on you. But it seems like to support your argument you want me to believe there is some serious wealth in this clutter. So very specifically I disagree with your yellow text. You have already spent your time and money in storing. You only did so because, in my humble opinion, because of a promise of rare rewards. I have crashed enough of your champ spawns to say that you don't loot the gold on the mobs that die. But I'm to believe you'd spend considerable time carrying heavy items that are worth very little to vendor instead? That's not a very efficient operation. Unless of course you've been promised rares for doing so. And now we're talking in circles. You're dug in to your position. I hope I have made my own clear. But I will say, this is a first time I've seen someone push the narrative that they were storing valuable items in CUB. I don't see the point in further discussion.
After reading this whole thread the greed of some showing is of epic proportions. I'm typing this post during a freeze that does'nt happen lol.
What I wanna know is, where the hell are 15k+ unnamed heads lingering on the shard? http://www.uorenaissance.com/itemdetails/Head/1DA0/1
when i hear any argument that starts with "i deserve" i tend to shut down. I've tried to read through some of the arguments posted here but it has been very difficult for my bias to shut off when i read any of Cynic's arguments because all of them are made to defend this primary demand "one way or another I will be rewarded for my stuff". I favor group effort and group reward fo any kind of CUB event because server speed affects us all, and i just cannot stand seeing any kind of process that does not at least attempt to acheive its stated goal. CUB events stand for "CLEAN UP BRITANIA" and any rationale that strays from this very clear and impossible to be misunderstood premise, make me question the intentions of that person. "Make me rich at the expense of everyone else" is not something i could ever support. that being said there are some interesting issues and proposed solutions that also address high item count making wands self destuct at 0 uses is fantastic. my natural abhorrence to littering in real life makes it hard for me to just drop things on the ground even in a game. item decay in a house s good too. i think item displayers will squawk at this because they often dont have enough lock downs, but that is already addressed with the feature of buying house lockdowns. it is expensive, yes, but just because you have a desire to collect and display things doesn't make it a right. buy more lock downs, sorry if u don't have enough to display it all. i think consolidating items is great too. make a craftable item that can consolidate commonly displayed individual items. heads on Mes Fort could be turned into "a grotesque visage" which when clicked on would reveal item count "1,000 heads" thanks for reading my text wall. It cannot be said Jupiter's position was not known.
Or.... we collectively beg and plead with Telamon to finish CUB, so we'll have something to do while we wait for all the other patches
Idk why Cynic makes it sound like he only has that one CUB house, I know for a fact he has a handful of them, most of which are stuffed with fishing garbage (Paintings, shells, etc.). You can't compare the thousands of items there with any single property, I know the extent of your hoarding and it really is downright despicable. I'd care to wager that you are single handedly responsible for more items on this server than anyone else.
Oh really? I'd love to see where I have these other houses.. I posted one house, if I had others I wouldn't bat an eye to post them as well. How fucking stupid would it be for me to keep more than one house full of CUB? I transfer all of the CUB stuff to one house for organization. Kane, again, talking straight out of his face sphincter.
I think you're misinterpreting what I'm trying to convey. I'm not saying I deserve CUB. Even if there is no CUB those bags can be vendored for 20k a pop, average. I do deserve that value if/when I decide to vendor those items. Just like anyone would expect platinum if/when they decide to vendor a platinum trophy. I also have bags upon bags of platinum trophies that have been collected over the years from AMIBs, CTF, town events, holiday events, etc.. Hundreds of statues. Am I not deserving of their full value whether I keep them in bags or decide to vendor them?
I have a wild idea (one that I've pushed for tchests forever) how about just taking garbage items out of the game? Mibs put out a remarkable amount of trash. So do tchests.
@Cynic , I think the argument @Mes is trying to present to you is that your item count is so high solely because of CUB. If there was no CUB in the works, you may still loot all the items you currently do, but you would vendor them as you collect if you merely wanted their gold value. You said so yourself it is a completely automated process for you to sell those bags. Thus; no CUB = lower item count = less lag. I have to say I agree with him.
I'm all for less lag and a place to.. place a house. No, not a little log cabin. Yes, please increase the time on saves by 20 minutes.
