I'm totally against buying popularity


And I am ideological opponent of "helping" new players with that kind of free stuff because:
- it steals a lot of fun from their game (think how glad you become when you tame your first mare yourself, or buy it for the money you earned yourself)
- everything that is not paid for (I'm not speaking only about money, you can pay with time, effort and so on...) is not valued and that kills the interest for the game and shortens people's time in UOR
- it develops dependency in new player's behaviour

And we live in the world where capitalism has won for now (thank USA rulers for that and USSR rulers for refusing to win), sooooooo free gifts of mares will be bad for sales of the new tamed mares next time.

I'm not against gifts, but a gift is something you give to your friend and not just a new person you have just met, most of the time, of course.


The best way to help young players (imho of course) is give them advice (if they ask for it), explain something on the server (if they ask for it), buying some stuff produced by them like cloth, leather, logs, etc., hiring them for some tasks, taking them into some events and for the hunt, BUT NOT JUST GIVING THEM FREE MONEY AND RESOURCES. Teach a person to catch fish...

I really stand for tougher PKs here, like Pork Fried Rice - kill + dryloot + kill a horse (but no grieving), well you can gate afterwards (it would be polite), but it used to be more that way in that era and made the stakes higher.

please, horse meat is eaaten so regular we call living horses hamburger meat in sweden and a nightmare is just an expensive meat and horse

Under normal spawn items like dragons I'd agree with you, but mares spawn only 5 a day and even when you know every spot and the rough times they spawn it can take weeks to actually be able to grab one. All of these mare are low end to mid range and nothing all to special to give away. But to each their own I guess.

so under such spawning circumstances it makes them more valuable, you know how often you see something like short maned (497) 502/87/92 mares....

so one more reason to take their hides off for barbed suits in anger ))
