A pack of hell hounds were moderately effective last year in some of these instances. Actually I think they were better than dragons and wyrms and other magic casters, since those run out of mana pretty quickly and never cast a spell of consequence thereafter anyways.

Frenzieds will always be better than hell hounds by a little bit in terms of damage output, but I just used the hounds for flavor reasons (they kind of look like wolves).

I'm not super familiar with the pack bonuses, but isn't it just a damage boost? I would think one or two AEs from like the Commander or a Dark Spirit would wipe out your entire posse of tames.

Ugh, yeah I am mis-remembering. They were great against the mini-bosses that you find in the wild (the ranger guy and the knight guy in particular, since they don't poison so your banadages will always be healing every ~5 seconds). Dragons/wyrms were better against the mini-boss mage since a poison or a spell "combo" could easily end up killing your pet and causing annoying stat loss.

Whoever RIICOO SUUUAVE was he did an outstanding/amazing job at ironmanning 2015 instances! I don't even think he had polar bears
