Currently making a peace/warrior (never had one before, but reading about it sounded like a lot of fun) and just had a question between 2 skills I Have: Anatomy Mace Tactics Music Peace Magery for the 7th should I take Healing or Disco? I know the point of a peace/warrior is to PvM while the monster is pacified, so would healing really be that viable, or would disco do a better job? (I understand this is an offense vs defense question. Just looking for feedback from anyone who has used this build before) Thanks in advance!
Hi SpikerMike, You'll need music and healing. This is similar to my build and I enjoy it, but you need healing for when peace fails (which is often, against harder monsters).
Right, I have Music (that's a MUST!) However, I was trying to weigh out healing/disco. I understand peace will fail against stronger monsters. But doesn't disco make them easier to peace? and if I'm nose to nose with them and peace fails will healing really help fast enough to save me? or is my safety more a question of IF my next peace attempt is successful, then I can heal with magery?
I can't read, you do have music. I think you really need healing. Using magery isn't enough to rely on (you'll probably have fairly low int, as well) and while peace certainly softens the blow a little, you still need to be prepared to be hit, cure poison, etc. You can try without, but it will keep your char from being a strong all-rounder, in my opinion, and you'll get frustrated quickly... But, maybe it'll work for ya.
I dunno... ...against other players fencing for its parablow and poison is king for sure. Against monsters, or comparing their raw DPS I actually think fencing is the worst pick. Swords has both hard, and fast hitters, and middle of the road hitters and has plenty of two handed and one handed styles available. Tthere are 14 viable weapons in the swords category compared to 4 Fencing weapons and 9 Macing weapons. That means that any one vanq or slayer will be (should be) cheaper and more common. Macing is the black sheep but the numbers are still there. Theres really only the war hammer, the quarter staff, and the golf club though. Theyre not super expensive like axes and fencing weapons but being limited to really only three top tier weapons keeps them from being dirt cheap. Well, The other weapons arent BAD, a vanq/silver black staff will rip apart lich lords just fine, AND will be (should be) about 1/2 the price of an axe or a katana. As far as damage goes though, the war hammer hits like a friggin MACK TRUCK (just about as hard as a battle axe WITH 50-70 lumberjacking) and the quarter staff is a DPS monster even against semi/heavy armored monsters.
Hey, so I'll chime in here as I started here a few weeks ago and my main character is similar to what you're proposing. My build: Anatomy Mace Fighting Magery Music Peacemaking Provocation Tactics So some things I've learned since playing this character: Peacemaking Peacemaking is a mixed bag on this shard as the more you hit a monster, the greater the chance it will break. This chance also increases as the monster's life gets lower. What this means is at a low life bar, your target will break the peace every hit. The reality is a Peace Dexxer is dangerous when hunting powerful monsters. I now use Provocation to hold monsters busy while I whack on them. I typically only use Peace for crowd control. So what I am saying is go with Provo. A Provo Dexxer is far better. Magery as your only form of healing This actually works well for me. My stats are 80/100/45 so I can cast a few GH's. As I keep my targets busy with both Peace & Proco, I rarely take damage. What does this mean? I wear no armor and thus actually have decent mana regen without Meditation. With all of this said, If you are not going to have Provocation, you MUST go with Healing. I can't stress that enough. Macing Yes, choices are limited. However, I saw a spreadsheet somewhere and the best hands down DPS weapon is actually the Black Staff on this shard. And since Bard Dexxers stand there for significant periods of time hitting monsters, we more see the full potential of DPS weapons instead of heavy hitters (we do no jousting in PvM). Crushing blows are also nice. I dunno, I like Macing. Our 2Her's have decent variety. Fast - QStaff. Slow - War Hammer. Medium - Black Staff.
Im pretty sure the speed stats on the black staff were borked in that spreadsheet artificially inflating the numbers. Its certainly not bad, it just swings only ever so slightly faster than the war hammer. also, I agree with the provo instead of peace. I still use my provo/macer to farm even now.
Oh wow. Did not know that! I just thought this shard was slightly different. But still what was second place? A LJer Axe or something. I can't remember. It is still pretty high up there. Plus take into consideration that spreadsheet doesn't count crushing blows, which are the best 2Her special of all of them. More damage. If your plan is buy awesome slayer weapons though, got to agree, far less macers on vendors. But then again, who is going to take a 50k weapon out with pk's and their OP tracking? Not this guy. I'll stick with my cheap powers and colored crafted ruins.
I meant for MOB drops, maces are far less common, at least in my experience. I loved macing because of the black staff. However switched to swords as good weps were hard to find.
This might have changed in some patch in the last year, not sure, but macing weapons have been the easiest to come by, then swords and axes, lastly fencing weapons. I am talking high end. As I look at my spreadsheet of my own gear I have nearly 2.6 times more high end macing weps than I do fencing. I stopped collecting macing weps actually so not sure if the drop rates have actually been modified. As for peace and Provo. Always a good debate. Just remember that not all hunt worthy mobs spawn in multiples, a fair amount are lone spawns. I have been running a peacedexxer for the past 2.5 years and have enjoyed it. Healing is a must; don't rely on magery. Obviously always carry pots into the field as well. I think the only times I get wrecked by mobs is because of my own human error and not my build with my peacedexxer.
