That would be a Rune Beetle and they were bad ass! They were tameable and had bleed attack and crazy high poison. http://www.uoguide.com/Rune_Beetle
Next special edition mask sold at the 2017 UOR Pony March 700 Hcoins Thanks @Blaise for modeling the mask prior to the event!
While i agree that we jumped the shark on trammel at some point in time- the faction war horses are equally ugly vanity mounts that serve little purpose and force people to constantly have to res them. Since mounts dont lose stamina here, theyre just horses with extra health and if theyre under attack you'll be too dead to save it.
I'm surprised in the fact that one person actually tamed cupid's horse this year without someone slaughtering it. I see no problem with this mount. Anyone against this mount is just a hater and mad that they aren't going to be the guy with the biggest bragging rights between his legs on the shard.
Well some people just prefer a classic looking server with very little neon vanity items. To each his own. The lack of items like that was one of the main reasons i chose uor when i did. Now i dont really play so id rather not pass judgement.
ehh helps to differentiate factions and looks cool and war party like in groups. mostly vanity, yes. and I never claimed to be a fan of them anyway, I can simply understand them.
Faction horses were way way worse when we started here. Long ago we converted them to the nightmare body so that the colors were more muted. As you can see the bottom row is the old faction look, top row is our adjusted look. And keep in mind we welcome everyones opinion on this, just make sure to consider the amount/exclusivity of these animals. UO has a rich history of having unique items, creatures and clothing from events. And even in the T2A/UOR era's some of those items would fall under todays "OMG TRAMMEL" banner. So 2-4 of these entering the world via a temporary, rare spawn mechanic will not change the look of the server or any players perception of UO Renaissance as a classic, non neon, Felucca server. Most of our vets probably remember a post just like this before our 3rd Anniversary where players were freaking out over us adding the "Blaze" hue of orange cloth. (It was Blaze adjacent, but not the neon color). 1.5 years later the towns are not full of players running around looking like neon traffic cones (Like some players were saying it would). They are rare items that certain players prize and design outfits around. And even the Polar bears from Christmas, which is about as trammel/non felucca thing as you can find. They work here because we placed limitations on their use, while adding a large amount of them to the world. By February you might see a random crafter still on one, or the extremely brave PK out doing rounds riding one. But that is about it. We were able to give the players something new, while retaining the classic look of the world players love. So like all things in life, give it some time and try not to have nightmares of a server with everyone riding pink horses during the event.
"OMG Trammel" was a term created by people who are not normal. Yeah it sucked when trammel came in,. But people lump anything they don't like into the "EW Trammel" category. It's become a scapegoat. And a reason to hate anything that is different.
I changed my mind and want to be a traffic cone riding a pink horse. yes those revised war horses are muuuuuuuuch better.
Just for kicks I went and found a current picture from one of our "competitors" servers for a simple comparison. And if we zoom in a little bit on this one player. I think you can easily see the difference between a "Trammel Neon Server" and UO Renaissace All that aside, I will admit that I failed to test the look on all 3 variants of the horse body type. So once the event is over I might approach their owners and give them the option of a slightly less pink look. It will however be up to them to let me change it, I won't force it on anyone.
glacial steeds and white out pen. wow those are new to me. the speckled black was about the worst I had seen when I quit oh the noob irc troll from yesterday, I will surely take your opinion that I valuely greatly to heart
FYI: Glacial Staves were to be de-powered and added to the shard at some point in distant history. Hopefully they drop at some point in very limited fashion, from ice serpents, as they are supposed to. They existed pre-Renaissance so before you get your undies soiled over it, do your best to accept that it predated Trammel by eras.
if staves come, history perfected needs to go, that would be blatantly ignoring a trainwreck of an addition for accuracy's sake.
Thanks for the input @Chris, still not a fan but it won't detract from my experience here. You are doing great things, keep up the A+ work!
