The hard way....

Just want to give a shout out to all of the old-school hardcore naturalists out there. It isn't easy, but this is the game I remember.... grinding it out.

This is my tamer. I've been working on him off and on since day one. I have not macro'd him taming at all. Ever. I've worked and grinded it out, first dodging Frost Trolls and Ice elementals while taming polar bears and white wolves. Then dodging silver serpents in the Jhelom bull pits. In Hythloth taming hell hounds by the dozens, and now in Wind dodging PK's (yes, you Peter Griffin) and taming drakes.

And I'm still not to 95 yet.

Also, when I finally do hit GM (assuming that happens before the end of time) I will be throwing a massive party to celebrate the first time I tame a mare and a dragon.

Nicely done, I only know of one guy to GM taming here without macros.

Prediction: you'll hit GM, fail 27 times in a row trying to tame a nightmare like the rest of us at GM, and ragequit, wondering what it was all for.

This is why I have created several melee characters, a couple of craftsmen, and a few strictly RP toons... so that when the taming has me wanting to punch through a concrete floor, I can take a break.

I do sone things like that too. I did gm taming here like I did on osi, no 3rd party program, I used in client keys to gm taming, which gmed lore as well of course. I did say forget about it when it came time for magery and vet though, think it was like 13k bandages for vet, forget that hah, I used razor for magery and vet and I also used razor for provo from 85-gm

Think the hardest thing I did here was tailoring without macro, no telling how many times I manually targeted a robe with scissors, after that I welcome razor and may always will now I'm no longer very natural, but keep the faith!

Next time, try taming a normal size dragon.

I have.... they still like the way I taste too much. haha.

I also seem to anger them a lot.

Well, it has been 2 months and I'm up to 97.9 skill.... still grinding away....

I didn't do it completely natural but I GMed taming entirely attended and active. I didn't AFK macro taming at all. I used macros to take out the tedious button clicking haha. It still took a few weeks.

Yeah, I've been at it off and on for 3 years now. It's become a matter of honor for me now... Can't wait until I hit that 100 mark. Gonna throw a massive party probably in Nu'jelom.

My fencer tamer naturalist had been a total BLAST! it became less and less fun to play with other naturalists but the solo game is stronk.

so do you just tame the same things people would afk - basically "non afk macro" or do you only tame when you need to use the skill and let it grow naturally?

Assuming the latter....that sounds absolutely painful. I didn't AFK macro it but I definitely focused on raising it, not just using it naturally.

we should get our naturalist tamer things together sometime!!!
