Okay... So I have recently been introduced to the world of reddit and I noticed that the shard does not have its own sub-reddit out there. I was wondering how many of my fellow travelers here in the UO world are active on reddit (if any) and if you guys would like to help build an active subreddit on the site? I see a lot of people posting on Reddit looking for UO shards to play that are more like the classic game than the "official" servers have become, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options when it comes that kind of thing. I figure this shard is awesome, the players are awesome, and if we had a sub out there it might help increase our visibility and make people more likely to find this great community rather than settling for some dim reflection of this awesome world in another shard. So, is there any interest in working up a new sub for the shard? Thanks for the input.
I look at Reddit daily (though I don't post a whole lot regularly there) - I'd contribute what I can to a UOR subreddit!
It's a sort of social-media and sharing site. Different from many others in that it is focused mainly on comments rather than pictures, memes, etc. I mean those are still there, but not as predominant as in Twitter or Facebook. It's a pretty interesting idea, actually. The comments that get the most "upvotes" (kinda the same as likes) are the ones that show up the most to readers. The ones that get voted down disappear and are more difficult to find. So, if we get a very active group of UO:R people voting up comments about UOR and the posts in the sub, we will gain more visibility and could potentially edge out the competitors. Especially since our closest competition (The shard which shall not be named) has a subreddit that hasn't really been active in more than a year. I didn't search because I knew it was on my common subs at the top when I log in. I haven't posted on r/UltimaOnline or r/UO:Renaissance in a long time though.
