Tips for new players on this shard. Some things I wish I knew

Whats funny is I would give the opposite advice based on my experiences. On the previous server I played on I stayed out of IRC and forums and didn't do the guild thing and largely played solo. Here on UOR I decided not to go the hermit route, found a fun group of people to play with and have loved every minute of it. From my point of view and experiences, there is MUCH more fun to be had playing this game with others. I would advise all new players to make friends and put themselves out there, even if that means inevitably meeting some jerks in the mix, for your UO experience will be so much richer if you do.

How much of a problem is this really? I'm coming from UOF which is full of toxic crazy people, was hoping this place was better but it sounds like more of the same.

Fairly new to this shard myself! And I was also thinking about joining that "other" shard (and judging to their forum, which I also check quite regularly, that shard is indeed full of toxic people). I can assure you: This shard is full of nice and helpful players! In fact, I have been playing for about 2 weeks now and I havn't met A SINGLE unfriendly guy. And I do not even talk about "toxic". This shard may lack some pvp, but it is definitely the shard with the nicest playerbase I have been playing on so far.

If you want to shut yourself away from everyone, and feel you can never trust anyone... maybe a single player rpg would be more suited for you. Or you could possibly find a server with no population and play there instead.

... better yet, make your own server. Call it Ultimate Off-line.

That way you can ride all the rides without waiting in line.
I mean, if you never do anything... can something happen to you?
