So I was trying to tame a dragon tonight in Wind... My taming is 98.2 shown, 97.9 real. Minimum skill according to the compendium is around 94, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Of course, nothing happened but me angering the beast and the beast trying to roast me or take bites out of me, depending on how close I got. Then in rides a fellow tamer. This more seasoned beastmaster saw my difficulty and kept me healed while I tried, repeatedly, to tame the beast and failed. Sensing my frustration, the other player offered to hand over the reins not only to an extra dragon they had in their stables, but also a nightmare. I love the way the players here are generous and pay it forward. From the very first day on the shard, literally, I have had people helping me and giving me a hand up here. And that's one of the main reasons that I try to do the same whenever I can and help younger players out as much as possible. Just figured I'd share the love.
I'm not sure if its like it here, but on OSI you would red line the mob then tame. That way it would just try to avoid you as opposed to kill you.
Yeah even at gm taming those punks can anger a lot! i need a mask of the wilds to make my life easier
i love me some WWs on my tamers and those are just ANNOYING to tame. Had 30+ angered the beast messages before i get an attempt! arg!

I've had lots of help too. Been trying to get by without much assistance but any and all questions have been answered. There's always someone willing to spare a few minutes and lend a hand. I'm looking forward to being able to help newer players, now that I've settled in a little. Thanks to anyone that's been helpful! Even the PKs I've encountered have been relatively merciful after the initial kill, expect the odd one! That's all part of the fun, though!
Just to add another anecdote. A nice player found me in Occlo Dungeon and handed me a full spellbook and leather armor. Really helped as i could use blade spirits to farm money for more reagents!
