[OOC] The goal was to show the very basics of RP as we do interact with at least 3 RP guilds sometimes, Brigands [BRG], Orcs [ORC] and Knight Templar [KT] and when we meet them, it can be good to know how to act. We met at the library, @Pekka, @Airin and @Dr Satan and we went to our new fortress and later @Soear showed up I started to talk about how too greet eachothers as RP:er often start with hail or Greetings or Orcs start with Greebas. I also mentioned that we do not see text above others heads and if two chars never met eachothers, they start by presenting themself and I wanted to give an example and Vanaondo took over... Well the lessons ended there, after 1-2 minutes as there where no need to say a single more word OOC. [IC] When I came to the fortress, I saw 2 ladies there, Adele and Airin and I presented myself to Adele as we had never met before. Airin I knew some from before as we have practised taming together but then we worked and not talked much. After a while Soear came along as well. I took upon me to be the bartender for this evening and served the ladies both drinks and food and Soear only wanted to eat some chicken. Adele got very drunk fast as she took Airins Cider as fast as she had drinken her own. That thirsty old lady... Adele told stories about Balrons and after a while I felt a chill, like something where present and I told the others that it feels like this house is haunted so we walked around the whole fortress to see if we would see a ghost or ghosts, but we found none. Soear told us about the old owner, so maybe it is his spirit that is left there? I think we will find that out sooner or later really. Well Soear had to leave and I suddenly recalled that I had left the barkeeper and chef Basaran Zeel all alone and stranded in Britain, where I sent him to bake some fruit pies so both Adele and Airin thought it was a very good idea to go there and pick him up and we found him at the Inn next to the bakery. Basaran Zeel was not amused over beeing stranded at Britain but he forgot it quickly and offered the party some newly made fruit pies. Airin suggested that we should go to a park and eat the fruit pies there and so we did and went to the east Britain and found some benches next to a fointain. Adele told us that when she is in Britain, she always visit Doe's and Airin made a wish by putting some coins into the fountain and so did Basaran. Basaran Zeel handed out fruit pies and we all ate until we where stuffed and Airin had brought some Liquer and Cider and served us and we chatted about all, nothing and everything and after a while we went home to our village again and said farewell eachothers. [OOC] Very well done all that showed up tonight and I know this was the first RP session for at least one of those that did show up but that was not noticeable at all really but I know you all seen RP:ers in action before, which made it all a bit easier I suppose. I had lots of fun and got myself a couple of laughes for sure I did checked the RP channel time to time to see if any known RP:ers where online but none where available, but we had fun anyway. But I do wonder where all RP:ers have gone? I know at least one will be more active from the beginning of next week but if we do this again, we do it first in a month or so. I know that all that where at this event tonight, sure wants to do it again. Getting used to all rules that the RP:ers are using, takes some time and it sure took some times for me at the RP shard Europa, as I did not know what it was when I first got there for sure, but I did learn early as I joined a RP guild there and I become very active in the RP community ERPA.
It was a lot of fun, and yeah the turnout was small, but it was a blast. The conversation was fantastic and I swear my face is still sore from the permanent grin the whole time. It was easy to tell it wasn't our first rodeo, but today reminded me of a different time. I haven't been on my paws char in a long time, and I haven't returned to #uor-rp since I returned to uor a month or two ago after RL forced me away. I dunno about the rest of yall, but I am reminded it's good to take a few moments now and then for the simple things, I hope to make a presence in the scene now and then once more. I think it would be great if we all got together at least once a month and got our nerd on so I agree with doing it again in a month if that's the time frame ya desire. Today I found out Adele Stackhouse may be an alcoholic and not realize it. Also learned that stray dogs chase chickens until the chicken becomes seriously pissed. Never knew that Soear has the best jokes in all the land with the most fantastic deliveries of the punchlines. And Airin catches on at guarding her cup...eventually. And fruit pies are delicious but we already knew that. P.s. - Adele didn't become sober in game until 30 min ago... TIL there is no cap on the *hic* time. She has mana again now lol.
Thanks for a great evening everyone! I really had fun, and was great to practise some beginner RP in this way. Would love to repeat it! But perhaps we need to take some packies next time to get enough liquor into the bar for Adele! Also, the reports are great, even though I was there I still enjoyed reading every word of it
Vanaondo also had to hide his fruit pies from Adele as she ate them in such speed as well, not only the Liquer.
There was a strong community for it, but I don' think it wasn't "enforced" in the same way you saw in wow.
There where many at Europa that did not RP and one example must be the biggest guild there, Knight Templars, that did not RP as one example but here KT is a pure RP guild. You had RP guilds in every city at Europa, RPers everywhere but the none RPers where in majority as most did not know what a RP shard means and so did not I when I joined it, but I learned quickly by just observing others and joined a RP guild. I was very active in the city of Vesper there and had lots of fun, both with the crazy RP:ers and RP-PvP. @Soear I was at a RP server in WoW and it was not enforced at all, well you really had to search for the RPers and RP in a bloody chat window felt very awkward and I never got used to it, even if I played WoW for years and RPed a lot there with both a Horde guild and an Ally guild. But before Wow, we where a bunch from UO that went from different guilds to the game Horizons and started a RP guild there together, Kushan Sogd
Glad you guys enjoyed this session. Pekka did a good job from what I hear. The plan is to have a session like this, for practice, once a month. And then to have a session to go out and actually spend some time putting to use what we learn and practice. I would recommend, if you are into this, to make a character just to RP. Come up with a back story or character arc of some kind, that involves the world of UO, and show up on that character to these sessions when you can, RPing with your PS character is fine, but it might not be as immersive to RP sometimes and other times not with your PS characters. I have a few RP only characters, and its nice to know that when I log in, I am only going to, and expected to, RP with them. The deco at the Fortress is going to be taken down in order to prep for the Great Haunted Fortress event we have going on, so we can try and set up another place to RP. I know that we have at least 2 tavern/bars in PS city either currently active, or in the works, We can move RP over to one of those.
Yes @Lord Krake. @Dr Satan did show me one of the Taverns after this session. Its a very good idea to have separate RP chars really. Should they also be in the guild? If anyone makes up a background story for their chars, it could also be a good idea to put a short version of it in the Characters profile and Vanaondo has that since a while back.
They probably should not be in the guild, actually. We can each know who each others RP characters are tho. We can even start a thread for our RP character to introduce them on the forums and give some background, but of course still follow RP rules for in-game introductions.
