Hi guys, I was making a T map lockpicker, but then I thought since there are 3 accounts. Wouldn't it be better to have Cartography on another char who will just read the map, he stays in town and pass the map to my lockpicker who goes and digs it up? Would that work? Would not having Cartographer with me during the dig/opening of chest effect anything?
Hi One, Thanks for the advice. Dang okay i'll have to keep carto on him. No resist then haha. Going this build because I wanna be able to solo the lower level stuff, its stressful tripleboxing sometimes. Carto LP Hiding Music Provo Magery Med... maybe a 50/50 split with med and resist. Unsure if such low skill would be useful though. I dont think I'll actually spam cast anything since no EI, but unssure if 50resist is even useful Oh and I'll have gm detect until I reach GM LP. need to figure out how to manage that
@wylwrk Thanks for the reply. What would tracking be for? i thought that's just for locating monsters? And remove trap can be just replaced with telekinesis no? I have a townie char that has ID and other support skills like armslore. I plan to lug everything back and have her ID it. but i'm guessing at high level, there is so much stuff that it would be best to ID there and leave junk behind?
Personally I'm working up this guy: Fishing, Carto, LP, Magery, Taming, Lore, Vet Basically just all the PvE stuff in one dude. He can farm, fish and do up to L4 treasure hunts easily on his own. Personally I like the idea of farming a spawn and doing the chests as they appear rather than having a lockpicker who has to avoid spawns. It's worth considering replacing taming, lore and vet with music, peace and provo and if you'd rather have fishing on another char I'd say med for tamer and eval for bard.
One note on this, the decoder does not have to be the one to dig the map BUT the digger does have to have the required Carto skill. This is important because you will sometimes find maps for sale which have been decided. That is not a problem. (And no, we do not have the mechanic where decided maps flip back to tattered.)
The "cartographer" is a semi-automated utility character that's had all immersion whittled out of it down to only a means to an end. I use my main to work the spawn. It lands on the spot, digs it up, hides, I clear first spawn on main character It removes the trap, searches for level 7's, and identifies contents of the chest (purely looking for level 7's) If no level 7's I swipe a preselected list of specific items by type and recall out... after busting the chest I've found (unfortunately) the faster I find and get to work on the 7's, the more $ I pull as opposed to milking the thing dry and sorting through all those glorious ruin and might mauls, butcher knives, and shepherd's crooks.
My Cartographer: Carto LP Hiding (These are the only three essential skills( Taming Animal Lore Vet Magery This setup allows him to contribute a dragon/mare team to the fight on high end maps, as well as easily solo lower level maps.
