Oh wow, with Chris onboard, in my eyes this just moved from fun idea to actually legitimate great project. And with you already showing off how far you are, this seems to be much more than someone's idea that never gets any follow up, you seem to be really interested in delivering this enhanced client. I'd like to apply for beta testing
Is this still something actively being worked on? This really hyped me when the discussion came up at first but its become silent around the topic. Is this the silence of development, or have you moved on @3HMonkey ? ;-)
other than scripting, macroing stuff. if it's only for graphic and resolution, I support this so much. this is 2017 and black border line is so annoying....~~~
It's such a pitty, looked like a great solution to our actual tiny size game, I hope development continue.
I'm not the original poster, but I'm currently working on a fork of OrionUO that strips out the non-open scripting parts and instead integrates Razor. Chris is aware of my efforts. I don't have a huge amount of free time, so I'm moving slowly, but things are progressing well so far. OrionUO is already pretty much fully functional, so this approach definitely seems like the best one. I also think I can just make regular Razor work a lot more simply and efficiently as a biproduct. I could eventually take general improvement requests too, but I'm focusing on the integration with OrionUO until that is up and running.
Great! Never used OrionUO, but I heard that is capable of doing things that you cannot with standard client, so you are cheating in some way. If I understood correctly you want to remove those non-allowed tools from the client and enable our classic Razor, right? If this client finally reach a reliable stage and UOR allows it, what would prevent from people using the "original" OrionUO? Is there a way to block it and just allow yours? I think that client can authenticante in some custom way with the server but makes me wonder how long it will last until someone break it. Anyway not sure what the "cheat" advantages are at OrionUO so it may not be a game breaking thing. I'd love to just have the original 2D client with the possibility to zoom a bit, I can even tolerate the black tiles flying over the screen. Damn big monitor resolutions, I'll play a bit with Windows scaling before going blind... argh..
OrionUO itself is just a clone of the classic client with the following changes: 1) Resizable game window with no black boxes. You can't actually see players further out, but the base map continues to render. 2) The ability to zoom in and out. 3) An improved in game radar that is functionally the same as the map in razor. The author of OrionUO also provides an assistant program, which is not open source, that allows all sorts of advanced botting. I've removed the assistant, hoping to replace it with razor. As far as cheating, OrionUO and it's assistant already work on this server, so nothing is changing. The server can't tell the difference between the clients - it's an exact clone. In fact, there is no anti-cheat mechanism on the client here at all so everything already works. All anti-cheat enforcement is done server side (i.e. afk gathering detection). If I'm successful in what I'm pursuing I'd be happy to help put in some anti-cheat measures that enforce only a special, approved UOR client is allowed. With enough effort these mechanisms can always be overcome, but I can make it really difficult and require constant changes to use a cheating client. That would be a big step forward from where the server is today. Anyway, my efforts here don't have a material impact on people's ability to cheat.
Ok it is clear now, sounds great and I hope you can achieve your goal, I think it will be a greatly appreciated alternative to our beloved classic 2D client that is showing its age.
So.. no news? . How about this OrionUO client?? It's possible and ok to use it without the assist add-on??
From orionuo website: -Orion Assistant is an assistant program like Razor or UOSteam but only for Orion Client. Razor, UOSteam, EasyUO etc. won't work with Orion Client, that's why we had to create our own assistant program.
Yeap.. but from what everyone said, that assistant is the one enabling cheats. So, I don't know if we can use just the client here, without the assistant.
nope, it is not allowed http://www.uorenaissance.com/?page=m_conduct Permitted Third Party Applications Allowed • Razor • UOAM • UO Rudder Explicitly Not Allowed • Assist UO (AUO) • Steam UO (SUO) • Easy UO (EUO) • Non Electronic Arts(EA) or Origin Systems (OSI) Clients. I tested the UO:Third Dawn client, that now I doubt if it is allowed, I think the answer is no . There is a post in the forums with some screenshots and that made me wonder if it would make look it bigger, it works but screen size is really limited, I mean field of view, you can zoom in a lot, but cannot see far away as we are used with 2D client. Moreover, most 3D models are awful.
<<< I really liked your run. It works perfectly, gives the impression of surgical intervention in the ancient flesh! To use this is very convenient and looks very good, there is no blackness and it's wonderful!
